Sabrina appeared startled, quickly averting her gaze after Grayson shot her a sharp look.

My cousin chimed in, further fueling the drama. “Mr. Blake, Isabella is fabricating a marriage, and she’s claiming this man is the father of her child, all to create a convenient cover for discreetly communicating with Gabriel without social judgment.”
Grayson turned to me, his gaze asking for an explanation. I simply shook my head, denying the accusation.
“I saw Isabella talking to Gabriel!” Sabrina added smugly.
“So you’re suggesting it’s inappropriate for a man and a woman to engage in conversation?” Grayson shot back.
“That’s not what I meant!” Sabrina stammered.
Unable to contain my frustration, I retorted, “Sabrina, stop dragging me into your insecurities and nonsense, especially considering the same strategy you used to seduce Gabriel as my boyfriend before.”
“You-” She gritted her teeth, revealing I had hit a deeply sensitive nerve.
I pressed on, “Let me be absolutely clear: I am no longer in a relationship with Gabriel Sterling! And for the love of God, don’t drag me into your mess with him! Wasn’t two years enough? Really, it’s annoying! Also, it’s completely disrespectful to the real father of my child!”
My cousin, wearing a sneering expression, pressed her advantage. “Then where is this mysterious husband you keep mentioning? You’ve been claiming he exists for quite some time now. Where is he?”
“Are you perhaps referring to me?” Grayson interrupted with sarcasm and irritation. “I already apologized for being late. Apparently, my explanation isn’t enough.”
A collective gasp swept through the crowd. My cousin recoiled, realizing the implications of my relationship with Grayson.
“Impossible! You’ve been claiming you and Isabella are merely friends all this time!” my aunt’s voice carried across the room, laden with accusation.
“Mr. Blake, are you perhaps just protecting Isabella?” my cousin asked.
Grayson’s expression darkened, the faint amusement he had shown earlier replaced with quiet irritation.
“Isabella, were you in a relationship with Mr. Blake while you were still with Gabriel?” Sabrina suddenly cut in. Her carefully worded question made it clear that she wanted to ruin my reputation by making me seem like someone with questionable morals.
“Sabrina, you and Gabriel know the truth,” I replied, exhaustion seeping into my voice. “I’ve grown weary of these baseless accusations… Gray, my head is throbbing.”
I pressed my fingers to my temple, eager to escape the overwhelming tension.
Grayson’s sharp gaze swept over them, a silent warning that left no room for further confrontation. My aun instinctively stepping back.

With the protective instinct of a husband, Grayson guided me toward Grandmother. Meanwhile, Gabriel quickly walked away from Sabrina, abandoning her without a glance.
“Gabriel, please wait!” Sabrina called out, but he walked away without looking back.
The soft notes of the pianist’s music filled the room, skillfully drawing the guests‘ attention away from the earlier commotion. Taking the opportunity, we made our way to the dining area to formally introduce Grayson to my

My parents remained silent. I couldn’t guess what was on their minds, but their distance felt like a small mercy for now.
Grayson placed a small cake in front of me, and the gesture was so thoughtful it warmed my heart. As he settled beside me, his hand rested gently on my belly as if acknowledging the tiny life growing within me.
“Where’s Evan?” he asked, his eyes scanning the room.
“Are you concerned about his whereabouts?” I teased, raising an eyebrow.
“I’m just relieved he’s not here,” Grayson replied, a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. “You know how tense things become when we’re both present. But with him away, I can actually talk to you freely.”
Grayson tenderly wiped the corner of my mouth before gently running his fingers through my hair. I hadn’t realized how much I missed having him close like this.
Most of the guests and relatives had noticed how Grayson took care of me that night. They finally understood the truth about our relationship.
When we finally found a moment of privacy, I leaned against his shoulder, drawing comfort from his presence.
“About Charlotte…” I started. “Who do you think helped her?”
Grayson drew a heavy breath. “Eliot’s continuing his investigation in Los Angeles, but there’s something you need to know, Bella.”
The weight of his words was immediate, and it was clear this would be difficult.
“I’ve discovered that my mother owned the villa that burned down in the South.”
“What? The news about the fire that occurred last week?”
Grayson continued explaining, revealing that Charlotte hid in that villa for months.
“You mean your mother could be one of the people who helped Charlotte?” I asked, disbelief evident in my voice.
The implications were overwhelming–how could Ms. Moretti possibly help the woman responsible for her own son Landon’s imprisonment?
“While I can’t definitively say she helped, I can’t rule out her involvement either.” Pain shadowed his features as he continued. “My mother’s financial resources are limited – she relies solely on my support. There’s no apparent connection between her and Charlotte. We’ve investigated Charlotte’s prison visitors during the trial period but found no suspicious contacts.”
