Darryl held his cheek and glanced at Lolita with a conflicted look on his face; he looked sour and bitter.

He thought that he had Lolita's trust, but he was astonished that she believed Grady. After all, Lolita had not had much life experience and was naive.

"B*stard!"

Seth, the Mayor of Pearl City, could not hold it anymore. He slammed his palm on the table and stood up abruptly. Then, he pointed at Darryl and shouted, "Darryl, you almost got all of US hoodwinked. Pearl city is a cultivated and civilized city. What a shame that we have a scumbag like you here!"

"Take that b*stard and send him for a trial!"

"That's right. There's no need to show mercy to a scumbag like him! He deserves to die!"

In an instant, all the guests around were pointing and cursing at Darryl. 1

Darryl clenched his fist tightly at the face of the angry crowd. His gaze was locked on Grady. "Grady, you knew better than anyone else about the truth. Do you think you can cover up your malicious acts with all these lies?"

"I will seek justice for Master Damien's death!"

Darryl was fired up. He recalled how Master Damien had helped him, and the rage in his heart passed all bounds.

With a smug look on his face, Grady said to Darryl, " Haven't you given up on arguing? Maverick's subordinate had revealed the truth. I think you should just give up."

"As an insignificant apothecary, you have been blessed tremendously to be Damien's live-in son-in- law. Yet, you are blinded by greed and selfishness. You want to occupy the Damien family's property, and

you colluded with the heinous Maverick to kill Master Damien. A vile person like you should be struck by lightning." 1

Grady looked bitter when he complained about that.

He was nervous about facing Darryl's anger, but he found courage again when he was reminded that many people were there, including the mayor.

Darryl's eyes reddened when he heard Grady's accusation. He approached Grady step by step!

Grady trembled at the sight of the Darryl drawing near, he flustered, and his voice quivered.

That was frightening.

Darryl's expression was like a devil; it was extremely horrifying.

Darryl did not waste time talking nonsense. He slapped Grady hard across the face with all his might. Grady howled miserably, and he was sent flying out of the hall and landed heavily on the ground.

Grady coughed up a mouthful of blood. Before Grady could stand up, Darryl got in front of him again. He raised his right hand and slapped Grady over and over again on the cheeks.

Everyone was stunned by the continuous crisp sound. They were surprised that Darryl would act so boldly against Grady in public! 1

Several of Grady's men wanted to rush forward to help him, but they held back in trepidation when they felt the intimidating aura from Darryl's body.

"F*ck, how dare you hit me? You are so dead!" Grady felt extremely humiliated by the repetitive slaps in the face by Darryl. He growled and wanted to get up.

However, Darryl did not give him any chance to do that at all!

After what seemed like forever and countless slaps, Grady’s face was swollen when Darryl finally stopped.

"I guarantee that Damien's death has nothing to do with me!" Darryl glanced around the crowd and said coldly, "Master Damien had been very kind and good to me. I would accept punishment if I were the one who hurt him!"

"It is true that I forced Grady to write that note, but I did that to help the Damien family clear up any potential threats. As for Maverick's subordinate who accused me of colluding with Maverick, that's a one­sided story. How can you all believe what he said?"

Darryl's words made a lot of sense.
