As soon as the maids left, a team of patrolling guards came to the bedroom to guard it.

"An assassin got into the palace!"

"Protect the Queen!"

Darryl felt so helpless. ‘F*ck! Now, I can't get out too.’

The Queen stood up all of a sudden, walked to the door and asked, " What’s the matter?"

“My Lady, a group of assassins impersonating rider armies have broken into the palace,” a guard outside the door reported.

The Queen frowned. “We must catch them. Don’t let them get away.”

"Yes, My Lady!"

While the Queen questioned the guards, Darryl quietly walked into the room and hid behind the ivory bed. There were guards outside the room and he knew he would not be able to leave any time soon. It was better to hide in the Queen’s room to observe when the situation changes.

Then, the Queen returned to sit on her bed. Meanwhile, Darryl admired the Queen from a close range through the hollowed-out ivory bed. He could not help but become fascinated.

"Protect the Queen and capture the assassins!" someone shouted from outside while Darryl was secretly admiring the Queen.

Then, a man in golden armor rushed in.

"Vernon?" the Queen frowned at the visitor, looking unhappy. “ What are you doing here?”

The man was called Vernon and he was a Baron, so his status was only second to the Queen. He was powerful. Recently, he had been building his own network and influence in secret, which threatened the Queen’s position.

In the past few days, the Queen was trying to figure out how to get rid of Vernon. That is why she was not in a good mood to see Vernon.

Vernon was calm and composed even when he could sense the Queen's displeasure.

“My Lady, I heard that assassins broke into the palace, so I rushed here to protect you,” he said, putting up an act.

The Queen let out a long sigh softly and said coldly, "The assassins are out there. If you are so loyal to me, go and grab them all. Also, this is my bedroom, you can’t come in without being summoned.”

However, Vernon did not seem to hear her and stood in place, smiling without saying a word. This made the Queen angrier. “ Vernon, did you not hear what I said?”
