Chapter 3397
It took them no time to wash the bloodstains out from the floor.
"They're gone. You can come out now," the Queen said to Darryl.
Darryl slowly emerged from his hiding place with a smile. "If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave now."
"Stop!" the Queen shouted before he could even take two steps forward. "Who are you? What were you doing in my room?"
Darryl was a little overwhelmed by the Queen's forceful demeanor, as evident by his quickened heartbeat. He quickly calmed down. He scratched his head as he thought about how he should reply to the Queen. He was well aware there were strict rules in place, and no matter how he explained himself, he would receive some punishment. So, he decided to lie.
"Your Majesty, please don't be angry. I'm a new royal guard and have not familiarized myself with the palace. Before I knew it, I found myself in Your Majesty's room. I was scared of getting punished, so I decided to hide."
The Queen frowned as she observed him. "How dare you lie to me? You're nothing but a convict, and yet you say you're a new royal guard. You should be severely punished!"
Darryl's heart beat even faster. He was dumbfounded and wondered how the Queen knew he was a convict? He got his answer in the next instant as he followed the Queen's gaze—she was looking at the red mark on his right arm. Obviously, the Queen had deduced him to be a convict as the red mark was a unique sign branded on all convicts.
"Fine! I'll come clean," Darryl said, not having a choice. "My name is Darren Derby. Yes, the very same Darren Derby the five great principalities are asking for the Day Rise Principality to hand over. " Then, he explained everything that transpired that day.
The Queen exhaled lightly and looked at Darryl with conflicted eyes. "Why didn't you tell me all that in the first place? It just proves you're a dishonest person!" Then, she shouted to the guards outside the door. "Guards, lock this man up!"
Darryl did not know whether to laugh or to cry. He was, after all, the person who saved her. He was astonished at how unreasonable the Queen was behaving. The royal guards rushed in with some rope in the blink of an eye, preparing to tie Darryl up with it. Darryl did not waste time in activating his internal energy. He had no choice but to fight his way out of that situation.
However, before a scuffle broke out, the Queen started to gasp in pain. Her exquisite face was drained of color, and she was frowning. Vernon and his men had injured her severely, and she had been trying to hide her pain. 1
