As the words rang through the air, everyone else looked at Darryl expectantly.
They knew well enough that if the news of them not being saved got out, the reputation of both the Heavenly Ocean Sect and the North Star Galaxy would be thoroughly ruined.
Save you?
Seeing Martin change his demeanor so suddenly, Darryl could not help but chuckle. "You want me to save you? What did you say earlier? Didn't you just accuse me of forming an alliance with the True Flame Sect?"
Uhh…
Embarrassment washed over everyone as they grew increasingly anxious.
The next second, Martin said in a placating tone, "Master Darby, that was truly my fault. I don't know what came over me that made me say that. I'm serious, we're all doomed if you don't save us."
Martin was apologizing then, but his chest throbbed with resentment.
'F*ck! I'm still the Head Elder at the end of the day! How dare you find fault with me in front of everyone?! Just you wait, I'm going to make you regret all of this.'
Evan could not help but pipe up an apology from the sides as well. "Exactly. That was truly my fault, Master Darryl. Please forgive us."
Evan was also extremely angered, but he knew that it was best to remain silent.
Seeing Evan speak, Darryl shook his head as he pretended to be deep in thought.
Darryl did not intend to abandon them. It was just that Martin and the rest had truly been too much. He was going to take the opportunity to teach them a little lesson.
Rachelle could not stand and watch any longer. She could not help but yank Darryl to the side and whisper, "Darryl, please don't try to find fault with them anymore. Let them go."
To tell the truth, Rachelle was quite angered from being accused of having an affair with Darryl by Martin earlier. It was just a few comments, and not too big of a deal. More importantly, they would need the help of the North Star Galaxy and the Heavenly Ocean Sect if they were to want to take down Prince Auten later.
Darryl smiled, lowering his voice to whisper to Rachelle, "Don't worry, I'm not going to abandon them. Just teaching them a little lesson."
As he spoke, Darryl coughed and cleared his throat before putting on a pained expression as he replied to Martin, "Alright, then. Since you've owned up to your mistakes, I'll be the bigger person. I've just got one condition before I let you go."
