Antigonus knew he would easily be tracked down by Master Magaera's men with his current condition if he left the Lange family. Moreover, he truly did not have anywhere to go. Thus, he took the risk and requested to stay here.
An uproar rang out in the hall. The elder and young disciples could not help and discuss.
"Stay? Do you know you're an outsider?"
"Do you know what place this is? You stand before the Lange family! Do you think you can stay just because you want to?"
"That's right. You have no right to join the Lange family!"
The crowd did not hide the contempt they had for Antigonus in the discussion. To them, Antigonus was no different than a beggar. It was so hilarious to think Antigonus wanted to stay in the family.
Antigonus looked indifferent to their remarks. However, he felt a wave of sick anger. 'Ignorant ants. How dare they look down and mock me? When I recover, I'll send all of you to hell.'
At that moment, Tuji signaled the crowd to quiet down.
He looked at Antigonus. "Our family only accepts disciples from our own family. We don't accept any outsiders. However, since you have no place to go, I'll make an exception and bring you in."
He looked solemn. "But, you can't learn the cultivation method of our family for the first three months. Let's see how you perform after three months. What about that?"
"Thank you, Chief." Antigonus nodded.
This place was just a temporary place for Antigonus to stay; it did not matter if he could or could not learn the cultivation method.
Tuji nodded and said nothing else to Antigonus. He waved his hand. "Alright. That'll be all. Everyone can head back now."
Later, he asked a disciple to come over to arrange a room for Antigonus. Antigonus left the hall together with the others.
"Father." Just as everyone left, Circe could not wait anymore and asked, "Why did you let Beka stay?"
Her father was a steady, mature man. It was weird for him to make such a rash decision.
Tuji narrowed his eyes and said plainly, "Circe, I know what you are thinking. I believe the disappearance of those people from the Mouse Sect is related to this person. Without any evidence, our family cannot lynch him. Hence, I let him stay, so it is easier to investigate further."
'Ah, I see.' Circe nodded as she finally understood.
