Eugene tugged on his tie, and a look of frustration flashed on his face. He clicked his tongue but said nothing.

Melanie paused for a moment before continuing, “Mr. Levees is an important client for this project. Judging by his attitude, it looks like he needs more time to think about it.”

Eugene’s dark eyes looked at her for a moment before he sneered and strode out of the meeting room.

Melanie followed behind him. The moment they stepped out, they saw Joshua coming toward the meeting room.

He paused in his footsteps when he saw Eugene. “Eugene,”

Eugene asked, “Do you need anything?”

“I’m here to see Melanie.” Joshua spotted Melanie behind Eugene and smiled at her. He walked past Eugene. “Do you have time tonight? I’d like to buy you a meal.”

Melanie was surprised by his question. She frowned when she realized what he was asking.

She was about to reject him when Joshua said with slight embarrassment, “It was my fault during the weekend, and I think I owe you an official apology. I was careless with you.”

Joshua had thought about this excuse for a long time.

He did not look at Eugene as it was over between him and Melanie. Besides, everyone knew that Eugene now had a girlfriend.

Before Melanie could reply, Joshua heard Eugene’s cold voice.

He said, “Are you here at LeapCo during office hours to date, Joshua Hewitt?”

Joshua looked a little embarrassed as he replied quietly, “I’m just asking Melanie since I’m already

here.”

Eugene looked at Melanie. She looked calm.

She replied impassively, “I’m sorry, I have to work overtime tonight.”

Joshua had asked her out on a whim, but he knew that he was being rejected when he heard Melanie’s

answer.

He smiled in embarrassment. “Next time, then.”

“Next time, don’t use working hours for your personal use.”

Melanie’s fingers fidgeted. She pressed her lips and said nothing.

She was not the one who brought this up in the first place.

Melanie followed Eugene back to the office and saw Viola standing outside his office door happily.

She looked surprised when she saw Melanie appear with Eugene, but she quickly recovered.

Melanie pretended not to notice and walked into the office with Eugene. She dutifully put together the meeting notes from the day and prepared to leave.

Before she turned to walk out of the room, Eugene said nonchalantly, “Handle Viola’s transfer to full-

time staff.”
