Melanie changed her steps, walking to the other side. However, she soon heard Eugene’s husky and slightly deep voice. “It’s getting late, and it’s unsafe for you to return alone. I’ll drive you.” 

Melanie’s steps did not stop, as if she had not heard him. Eugene softly called out again, “Melanie,”
