He spoke in a commanding tone, which showed he was arrogant and looked down on Tom.
In his eyes, Tom was just Amelia's colleague, a white-collar worker and could earn at most ten thousand a month. Tom was no match for the nephew of the city lord inside.
How could such a lowly white-collar worker be qualified to be the son-in-law of the Castillos?
Tom didn't take his words seriously, but Amelia couldn't bear it. She said angrily, "Uncle, be careful about your attitude. His name is Tom. He's my date, not my colleague. Also, he's staying for the night."
When her uncle heard her words, his face immediately darkened and he said, "Amelia, you want to destroy our the Castillos? The city lord's nephew is sitting in the house, waiting for you to come back and get engaged! Now you bring a man back without our permission, this is a real slap in the face of the city lord's nephew and the city lord!"
The other people also came over and discussed Amelia disapprovingly.
"Isn't that right? We have spared no effort to set up this date for you and the city lord's nephew. Now that you've brought back this man, you are embarrassing us."
"That's right, Amelia. You're too thoughtless."
"And look at this guy. He looks so sly. He's not a good person. This would sully the reputation of our family if you marry such a person?"
"Not only is he sly, but he is also an ordinary person. His monthly salary is not more than ten thousand, right? He is definitely no match for the nephew of the city lord."
"Amelia, you are a whole package. Don't marry such a mediocre man. Get him out of here."
"That's right. Don't let the city lord's nephew see him. Otherwise, he would be angry, which will be bad for us. Just now, the city lord's nephew asked us if you have ever been in a relationship. We all said you were still a virgin."
"Why are you still talking? While the lord's nephew is still drinking tea in the house, chase this guy away!"
They were all chattering and showing disdain towards Tom, trying to drive Tom away.
Tom frowned. He had expected that there would be difficulties in his trip with Amelia this time, but he did not expect that even Amelia's family was so rude and bitchy.
No matter what, he was a guest who came so far away. No matter how much they didn't like him, at least he deserved to be invited in for tea.
Amelia was even angrier. She felt worse for them to scold Tom than to scold her.
"Shut up!" Amelia scolded angrily. "First, he's my man. I would never chase him away. If you really want to do that, then I won't come back! Second, I won't marry the city lord's nephew. Stop dreaming!"
Her words angered many of the Castillos, especially several elders, who began to scold. Two of them had a short fuse, and they pointed at Tom's nose and scolded him in the dialect of W City. Tom was not from W City but could know that they were cursing.
His face turned grim. He was being kind to escort Amelia back. He had even bought a lot of gifts on the way, only to be treated badly.
If it weren't for Amelia's sake, he would have been furious.
"Enough!" Amelia shouted and said coldly, "I won't go back to this house. You go on a blind date with the city lord's nephew!"
