“Wanda, what are you thinking about now?” Neil reached his hand out his wave it in front of me.

I came back to my senses and gave him an awkward smile. “Nothing. I used to think Miss Yard met the right person, but it seems now that’s not the case.”

Could he have given up on my mother and let go of his grievances with the Yards?

If that were the case, did my mother not just waste her life on an unworthy person?
