Early the next morning, I went to Marius' place unrelentingly.
The smell of beer greeted me the moment I entered the room. I knew then that Shannon had not woken up.
Marius leaned against the door. He looked at me while brushing his teeth. "I called you before you came. There's nothing I can do."
He bit his toothbrush and spread his hands wide. His helpless appearance was rather amusing.
Seeing that Shannon was still sleeping soundly, I could not bear to wake her up. I decided to let her sleep for a while more.
"I've put breakfast on the table. You can eat after you wash up. We’ll let Shannon sleep a little more.”
She must definitely be suffering after drinking so much.
Marius washed up and got changed before coming out of the bedroom. He pulled the chair opposite me out and sat down. "Shannon, drunk as she was, kept cursing Jordan last night. That's her husband, right?"
Cursing Jordan?
I frowned. "That’s not right. They’re such a loving couple. Even if they did argue, Shannon wouldn’t be like this.”
I heard a sigh. Marius was shaking his head. "I'm afraid it's not that simple. I heard something about him having an affair and cheating…”
"Jordan cheated?!"
My eyes widened as I screamed out.
That was not something I could believe.
Marius hurriedly covered my mouth as I was being a bit too loud and looked around the room. After confirming there was no movement for a moment, he pulled his hand away and put a finger to his lips, signaling for me to whisper. “Sis Wan, don’t be so agitated. I just heard a little of it. I don’t know what the actual situation is. It might not be as we imagined.”
Nodding, I pursed my lips and finally said, "We'll ask Shannon after she wakes up."
"Alright.”
We still had to ask her what needed to be asked.
Clearing my throat, I slowly started, "Shannon, why did you drink last night?"
Shannon casually responded to me as she ate, "I just wanted to have fun all of a sudden. Relax, it’s nothing.”
"Is that so? You were really unhappy when you got drunk last night, though. You even latched onto a middle-aged man and said that you wanted to spend the night with him. Do you remember?"
In the past, Shannon would still keep her reputation clean despite being drunk.
If what the man said last night was true, then something must have happened to Shannon.
Sure enough, Shannon's complexion changed when she heard what I said. She could not even speak smoothly, "Uh, is that right? I can't remember. I probably got so drunk last night I lost my mind.”
"If I hadn’t found you, you and that man would have actually—" I could not continue and turned away angrily.
