The masquerade ball ended amidst laughter and joy.
Shannon and Arthur seemed to have got along very well. They even privately made an appointment to meet each other for the second time. However, since Arthur was an idol, if Shannon were really interested in him, she would inevitably face a lot of problems in the future. Still, this was for a later time.
I myself drank a lot tonight. Although I was a little tipsy, I was still sober, just a little red in the face.
Theo glanced at me while driving and shook his head slightly. "You didn’t actually have to drink so sincerely."
"I was happy. It's okay since it’s once in a while." I smiled in response to his words.
Looking out the window, at the flashing lights, I could not help but let my thoughts float.
I thought again of what Sylvester told me at the dance.
The truth about my mother…
"What are you thinking about?" Theo's words broke my thoughts.
I wanted to discuss this with Theo and since he had asked, I told him about it honestly, “Sylvester came just now. He asked me to go back to Yard mansion so that Silas would tell me the truth about my mother's death."
Sure enough, Theo frowned after he heard that. His grip on the steering wheel had also tightened significantly.
Noticing his actions, I could not help but ask. "What's wrong?"
Theo shook his head. "Nothing. What did you reply to him?”
"I thought he was tricking me into going back to Yard Mansion again just like last time. I don't really want to go, but I feel like..." I was feeling conflicted, and my brows were furrowed.
Theo read my thoughts and continued where I left off, "Do you think there’s something fishy with Millicent’s death?”
"How should I put it, what we learned back then always felt a bit too far-fetched. She knew of my existence at the time, how could she so easily have taken her life? That is unless she really suffered a heavy loss.”
