I did not go back to Green Orange but went to Grant Corporation directly.
Theo shut the door tight when he saw me. There were only the two of us in the office.
"How did it go?" he asked.
I sighed and shook my head. "He didn't give me an answer right away. I said I'll give him two days. If I don't hear from him in two days, I'll take it as he's given up."
"Well done." Theo patted me on the shoulder. "That's the way. The initiative is in my hands."
Theo looked steady but I was inexplicably agitated. "Do you think he'll see through us?"
"Sylvester's mind should now wholly be on how to revitalize the Yards. He won't think too much about anything else, let alone what you are going to do."
His words made sense and I gradually calmed down. "I hope we'll hear good news."
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door and Theo and I stopped talking.
"Theowy, I brought someone over."
Cindy had brought Arthur over. When she noticed I was here, her expression obviously changed. Then she looked back at Theo and smiled.
"Grant Corporation is looking for Arthur to be a spokesperson?" I asked.
"Yes. The company recently released a workout series. Arthur's image and style suits it quite well."
Arthur smiled a big smile. "President Lane, I hope to learn from you."
"No, I'm not with Grant Corporation anymore. Just call me by my name."
"Okay, Miss Wanda."
Miss Wanda sounded like quite the familiar address. I could not help but think back to the day he had chatted with Shannon so happily. I wonder if they were still in touch.
