"Even though I can absorb mental energy while soothing the men, my abilities are still limited.
"I've already soothed quite a few people today, all of them S-grade or higher. If anyone else needs my help, please arrange a time with Scott.
"I need to rest for now, but we can discuss the calming sessions tomorrow. Please head back for today. I'll do my best to help within my limits."
With a gentle smile, Analise finished speaking and walked away.
Ding-dong!
Her interface chimed with a notification. Analise checked it and saw another message from Vera.
Vera, using the username SugarBunny, had texted.
"Ms. Chamber, are you really not coming to my birthday party tomorrow?
"I was hoping to apologize to you in person. I was just too anxious that day… You're not still mad at me, are you?
"When are you coming back? I saw the live broadcast today. You were amazing! You even managed to soothe that robotic woman.
"Let me know when you're back, okay? I'll treat you to a meal, just the two of us, so I can apologize properly. I'll feel awful if you don't come.
"Ms. Chamber, why aren't you replying? Are you still busy?"
Analise's scalp tingled as she read Vera's barrage of messages.
Had she misjudged her?
Vera's change of expression that day had been too sudden. But was Analise simply overanxious about the Stormclaw Alliance? Her thoughts spiraled into chaos.
Even though her mental energy had been replenished, she still felt drained.
And now, with Echo seeming so far away, a sense of unease crept over her.
Although Echo had assured her that the items were hers to keep, she still felt uneasy without them, even with the handsome men around her.
Analise, using the username Grade-F Pure Human, replied, "Just finished up.
"I'm sorry, but even if I started traveling back today, I still wouldn't make it to your birthday party. The gift I got you will be delivered by the butler tomorrow. Happy birthday in advance!"
