They Beg For My Return (Camila Jackson) novel Chapter 106

Camila raised her gaze, her eyes calm yet carrying a sharp edge. She found William so full of himself. His forgiveness didn’t matter to her at all. It was absurd that he would use something she didn’t even value to threaten her.

William,Camila said, her voice cold and cutting, has anyone ever told you that you’re like a dying rose?

Her fingertips lightly traced the wine stain blooming across the gilded tablecloth. The petals are still putting on a show of grandeur, but the core is already rotten.

For five years, Camila had fought through darkness, her body battered and broken, but her mind had only grown stronger. William, on the other hand, seemed stuck in time, blinded by his own foolishnessit was almost pitiful.

Camila turned her head away, refusing to look at him for another second. Her disdainful posture was like swatting away an annoying fly.

William’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He wanted to say something, but no words came out. His gaze lingered on Camila, but what reflected in his eyes was Giovani’s impeccably tailored suit that perfectly framed her slender shoulders.

Giovani stood tall, exuding a cold and commanding presence. Camila, though somewhat delicate, was quite pretty. Together, they painted a picture of striking harmonyan image of beauty and strength.

Jealousy festered in William’s chest. It was as if a venomous snake coiled within him, gnawing at his heart until it bled.

I met Camila first. Why is it Giovani standing by her side now?he thought, seething with resentment. But now, all he could do was let the police drag him away.

After a brief moment of silence, the atmosphere in the hall gradually regained some energy.

The men cast wary glances at Giovani, their eyes filled with an instinctive fear of his commanding presence. Meanwhile, the women looked at Camila with envy, for how she had earned Giovani’s unwavering protection.

Meanwhile, the guests stepped forward one by one, presenting their carefully chosen birthday gifts to Lindsey. Each gift was priceless, a reflection of the giver’s desire to curry favor and impress.

Lindsey sat at the head of the table and wore a warm smile. She graciously accepted each gift and expressed her thanks for their thoughtfulness.

Finally, it was Camila’s turn. She took a deep breath and slowly walked forward, her steps heavy as if weighed down by lead.

She lowered her head, her voice trembling with guilt. Lindsey, I’m so sorry. I didn’t protect the needle work Majestic Bloom that Mr. Campbell had specially prepared for you.

Over the past month in the Campbell residence, Lindsey had showered Camila with care. It was like a warm fire in the dead of winter, melting the ice around Camila’s heart.

Knowing Camila’s poor health, Lindsey had prepared nourishing meals daily, and within a month, Camila’s cheeks had regained a healthy glow. For Camila’s leg condition, Lindsey had even hired a massage therapist to ease her pain every day.

Deep down, Camila thought she had many flaws, yet Lindsey’s kindness never wavered.

Despite her tired appearance, Lindsey always praised her beauty. Despite her fiery temperament and the dark past of lashing out at her parents, Lindsey called her kind and gentle.

Despite the vast gap between her and Giovani, and her belief that she was a broken person with little time left, Lindsey insisted that Giovani was fortunate to have met her.

Camila could see Lindsey’s intentions to bring her and Giovani closer, but she didn’t even dare to dream of it.

Chapter 106

For her, Giovani was like a distant star, dazzling and untouchable. He should be with a woman of equal standing and radiant charm, not someone weighed down by scars and shadows like her.

The thought brought a shimmer of tears to Camila’s eyes, her vision blurring as they threatened to spill.

Lindsey quickly reached out, holding Camila’s hand and gently patting it. You did nothing wrong. The fault lies with others. It’s not a big deal if the gift is broken. The love behind it matters the most, my dear, and that makes me truly happy.”

Lindsey’s warmth only deepened Camila’s gratitude. Her nose tingled, and tears threatened to spill from her eyes.

Just then, Giovani’s voice cut through the moment. It really is your fault, Camila.”

Lindsey turned sharply to look at Giovani, her eyes filled with surprise. Can’t he see Camila’s already drowning in guilt?she thought, exasperated.

She shot Giovani a fierce glare, her expression practically saying, Stop talking if you’re just going to make things worse.

But Giovani seemed not to have noticed, his tone calm and detached as he continued, You’re going to redo the embroidery, and until it’s finished, you’re allowed to leave the Campbell residence.”

Camila paused, her head snapping up to look at Giovani. Her tearfilled eyes shimmered with a mix of surprise and vulnerability, making her look both pitiful and radiant.

Giovani felt a sudden heat rising within him. He fiddled with his patterned tie, his Adam’s apple shifting beneath the black silk.

Lindsey quickly caught on, and her heart practically danced with joy. That rascal finally gets itusing this method to keep Camila close. All my efforts weren’t in vain.’

Though the excuse was flimsy, Giovani had never been one to care about reasoning. He looked directly at Camila and asked, Ms. Jackson, what do you think?

For Camila, this socalled punishment was anything but. Staying with the Campbell family meant having everything she could ever want.

There was delicious food, attentive care, a spacious, sunlit bedroom, and a private craft room where no one disturbed her while she worked. Everyone in the household treated her with respect. It was the life she had always dreamed of.

Alright, she replied. Her voice was soft and a little raspy, but there was a hint of happiness she couldn’t quite hide.

Giovani’s lips curved into a faint smile, his brow arching slightlya subtle gesture that revealed his amusement. Still so easy to fool, he thought. His eyes narrowed as he studied Camila intently, as though he wanted to devour her whole.

Lindsey took it all in, secretly shaking her head. No one knew Giovani better than she did. She bet even if he completely had his way with Camila, Camila would probably still think he was kind and charming.

After exchanging a few more pleasantries with Lindsey, Giovani was soon whisked away by a group of men in tailored suits, off to discuss the complexities of business matters.

Lindsey turned to Camila, her gaze filled with affection. Camila, you must be hungry after a long day. Go grab something to eat. Chat with whoever you like, and ignore those you don’t. Just do what feels right.

Oh, and no drinking, alright?Lindsey added, her tone as doting as if she were speaking to her cherished granddaughter.

Camila nodded obediently, picked up a glass of juice, and slowly made her way to the balcony.

The sky had long since turned dark. The night stretched out like a vast expanse of black silk, heavy and endless, with only a few faint stars scattered across it. A cool breeze brushed past, teasing strands of Camila’s hair.

She stood there quietly, as if merging into the tranquil night. The weariness and worries weighing on her heart began to ebb

away.

But the faint buzzing in her head persisted, like restless bees trapped inside. Ever since Robin and her gang had beaten and shoved her, her hearing had never been like this.

After finishing her juice, Camila pulled over a chair and sank into it. Her hands rested limply on the balcony railing, her head leaning against her arms.

She felt the tide of exhaustion wash over her, pulling her into its depths. Slowly, her eyes closed, and before long, she drifted into a fragile, light sleep.

Time passed, and finally, Giovani finished his social obligations. As he casually glanced back, his eyes fell on the slender figure curled up on the balcony. The soft glow highlighted her delicate silhouette.
