Chapter 147 Camila, I’ll Give You My Kidney
Ivanna’s heart sank when she saw Claude injured. She rushed forward to help him, but Turner delivered a brutal kick to her
stomach.
A sharp, searing pain overwhelmed Ivanna. She clutched her stomach tightly, curling into a ball as she writhed on the ground in agony, completely unable to get up.
Turner let out a cold snort and swiftly plucked a strand of Claude’s hair. Without hesitation, he walked straight to Arthur.
Arthur instinctively tried to resist, but Turner’s icy voice stopped him. “You saw what happens to those who don’t cooperate. Do you want to end up like her?”
Arthur froze, his body trembling. Realizing resistance was futile, he gritted his teeth and stayed still, allowing Turner to pull out a strand of his hair.
Finally, it was Agnes’s turn. Her hair had been shaved off by Glovani’s men earlier, but over time, the sides had grown slightly. Agnes trembled uncontrollably as Turner approached, her wide, fearful eyes darting around in desperation.
Turner handed the three strands of hair to Michael. “Dr. Walker, I’ll leave this to you.”
Michael stood there, completely stunned. The truth behind Camila’s abandonment at the orphanage was far more brutal than he could have ever imagined.
Camila was only twenty–three, yet her life had been a constant cycle of pain and betrayal. Arthur, that heartless man, had treated his own daughter with such unforgivable cruelty. It was beyond comprehension.
In the Jackson family, Camila was the only one who seemed normal. And yet, he had once mocked her, throwing cutting words her way and treating her with cold disdain.
The guilt Michael already felt toward Camila now weighed even heavier on him. Learning the full, sordid truth made him loathe himself to the core.
He hated himself for believing Harry’s and Agnes’s lies instead of seeing for himself whether Camila was really as awful as they claimed.
Michael took the strands of hair and said firmly, “Give me an hour. I’ll get the truth, no matter what.”
With that, he turned to leave, only to feel a tight grip on his ankle. Looking down, he saw Ivanna sprawled on the floor, clutching him desperately.
“Don’t go!” Ivanna screamed, her voice hoarse and frantic.
Michael shot her a look of pure disgust and kicked her hand away without hesitation, striding out as if she didn’t exist. Panicked, Ivanna crawled after him, shouting, “I’m the director! If you dare disobey me, I’ll fire you immediately!”
Michael stopped and turned back, his gaze icy. “You think your title means anything to me? The Walker family owns shares in Mercy Hospital.
“I’m a doctor because I love saving lives, not because I need the job. If I wanted, you wouldn’t even be in that director’s chair.” Because of the business relationship between the Jackson Group and the Walker Group, Arthur used that connection to help Ivanna climb to the director’s position over the years.
But as the major shareholder’s son, Michael could remove Ivanna with just a word. The fact that she dared to use her title to threaten him was laughable beyond belief.
Michael’s eyes softened as he looked at Camila, filled with guilt and unwavering resolve. It was as if he were silently saying, “I’ve failed you before, but I swear I’ll never let you down again.”
He gave Camila one last, deep look before turning away and walking out without hesitation.
Then, the living room plunged into a suffocating silence, so heavy it felt like the air had been drained from the room.
Suddenly, Agnes bolted toward the door like a madwoman. All she wanted was to escape this dreadful place. Every second here felt like sheer torment.
To her, Camila wasn’t the real threat. Agnes wasn’t worried about the Connor family uncovering the truth from five years ago, nor about Arthur finding out she wasn’t his daughter.
The real fear came from one man–Giovani. The memory of his ruthless tactics at Lindsay’s birthday banquet was still fresh
in her mind.
The rumors about him weren’t exaggerated. A Successfully unlocked! la paid a steep price–broken fingers, ruined faces, and shattered teeth. Even his own father haunt escaped his wrath. He was left so traumatized that his sanity was hanging by a thread.
She couldn’t begin to fathom what Giovani might do to her now, all in the name of avenging Camila. The thought alone was enough to make her desperate to flee, even if it meant abandoning her own parents..
Chapter 147 Camila, I’ll Give You My Kidney
She sprinted to the door and yanked it open. Sunlight poured in, bathing her in its warmth, as if offering her a path to salvation.
A fleeting smile of relief appeared on her face, the kind that came with the hope of escaping danger. But the moment her eyes landed on the man standing in the doorway, that smile froze. Terror consumed her.
A sleek dagger glinted as it tilted her chin upward, forcing her to stumble back. Step by step, she retreated, and with each step, the man holding the dagger came further into view.
He was in a sharp black suit. His tall, commanding figure exuded an air of authority. Broad shoulders, a slim waist, and long legs gave him an almost regal presence.
His expression was cold and unyielding, his face devoid of emotion. But His eyes carried the weight of countless battles and the sight of endless bloodshed. It sent chills down her spine. This man was none other than Sean.
“Get back inside,” Sean ordered, his voice cold and sharp, cutting through her like a blade.
Her eyes widened in fear as she stiffly turned around, dragging her feet back to where Ivanna and Claude stood with
reluctance.
Arthur watched the scene unfold, his heart sinking further. Agnes’s instinctive reaction had already betrayed the truth. Her bond with Claude was far closer than it should have been.
William’s gaze locked onto Camila, his face etched with pain. His legs gave out, and with a heavy thud, he dropped to his knees. Tears streamed down his face as he choked out, “Camila, I’m so sorry.”
Camila’s expression remained calm, her silence more piercing than any words. This unshakable composure left William utterly despondent.
It was then he realized that she had completely given up on him. The weight of this truth made him stagger, as if the ground beneath him had disappeared.
“Camila, I’ll do anything to make it up to you. Take my kidney or my life. Whatever you want! Don’t shut me out like this. Please, I’m begging you!” William pleaded, his voice breaking as tears fell uncontrollably.
