Chapter 199 Grudges Cleared
The child shook her head stubbornly, pressing herself closer to Lucy’s leg. Her small face was filled with fear. “They’re scary. I don’t wanna go. I just want you. You said you’d take me to find Mom. I don’t wanna go to the police.”
Lucy couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. She never thought Camila’s daughter would trust her so much after just meeting her. It warmed her heart–and shattered it. “Be good, okay?” she whispered.
“No, I don’t want to!” The child wailed, her tears soaking Lucy’s clothes. Her cries oed sharply, breaking the tense silence. “I just want you, Aunt Lucy.”
“They’re all bad people. They hate me, hit me, and yell at me. Only you protect me.” The child’s chest heaved as she sobbed uncontrollably.
Lucy felt her heart ache as if it were being pierced by needles. She wished she could raise Carmila’s daughter herself. But she knew it was impossible.
She gently ran her fingers through the child’s hair, trying to comfort her. But the child grabbed her wrist tightly, refusing to let go.
“Aunt Lucy, don’t leave me. I’m scared,” the child pleaded, her tear–streaked face looking up at Lucy helplessly.
Lucy opened her mouth, but no words came out. At this point, she couldn’t make any promises.
“Lucy!” A sudden shout pierced the air.
Lucy froze, her body stiffening as she turned toward the voice. Her eyes locked onto Turner’s, and for a moment, everything seemed to stop.
Her eyes widened in disbelief–she never thought Turner would find her here.
“Lucy, stop this madness.” Turner’s voice was filled with urgency and desperation. “Please, surrender now.”
A bitter smile tugged at Lucy’s lips. “Turner, my life doesn’t matter anymore. The only thing I can’t let go of is Camila’s daughter.” She gently stroked the child’s head, her gaze soft.
“Camila’s daughter?” Turner’s eyes widened in shock as he looked toward the little girl clinging tightly to Lucy’s leg. “You mean her?”
Lucy nodded. “Yeah, this is Camila’s daughter. Back then, when Camila was forced to give up her kidney, they even injected her with ovulation drugs. Those monsters planned to harvest her child’s kidney once their own failed.
“Camila was such a kind soul, but her entire life was destroyed by those scum. She died without ever knowing she had a child.” Tears streamed down Lucy’s face, her voice breaking with emotion.
A police officer stepped forward, his tone firm. “Those people committed crimes, and the law will punish them. That doesn‘ t justify murder. Release the hostage and surrender now, and you may still receive leniency.”
Lucy scoffed, “You wouldn’t understand–you’ve never felt this kind of pain. I don’t care about leniency. All I want is for those who hurt Camila and her daughter to pay with their lives.”
“Don’t be stubborn!” The officer’s voice grew harsher.
Lucy ignored him. She spoke softly to the child, “Sweetheart, do you see that man in the black suit? Go to him.”
“No, I won’t leave you!” The child clung to Lucy’s leg even tighter, her sobs growing louder as her tiny frame shook uncontrollably.
Lucy’s heart ached, but she had no choice. She couldn’t let the child get caught in the chaos that was about to unfold. Her expression hardened as she forced herself to scold, “Are you disobeying me now? If you don’t listen, I won’t like you anymore.”
“Aunt Lucy.” The child looked up at her, tears streaming down her face.
Lucy had already steeled herself. Her face remained cold and unyielding.
Frightened by her demeanor, the child slowly loosened her grip and reluctantly shuffled toward Turner.
Lucy turned to Turner, her eyes pleading. “Turner, for the sake of what we once had, please take care of her.”
“Lucy, don’t worry. I’ll make sure she’s safe. Turn yourself in–there’s still hope,” Turner said.
Lucy gave a bitter smile. “Some things can never be undone

The bullet pierced through Lucy’s forehead, and blood erupted, staining her pale face crimson.
“No!” Turner screamed, his voice raw with anguish. His body froze, his wide eyes fixed on Lucy.
The world seemed to halt in that instant, a suffocating silence enveloping the scene.
Lucy felt a scorching force tear through her head, her vision shrouded in a veil of red. Everything around her blurred and
twisted.
Her body swayed, her consciousness fading. But sheer willpower kept her standing for a few fleeting moments.
With the last of her strength, she drove the knife deep into the man’s neck. The blade sank into flesh, and warm blood sprayed out, splattering her face and body, mingling with her own.
‘Finally, Camila’s daughter is avenged, and the bastards‘ precious son will grow up an orphan. This is true justice. I can die without regrets, she thought.
Lucy’s body collapsed, drifting backward. The sky above her blurred from blue to blood–red, then faded into endless darkness.
