Chapter 39 Mess With You?

Chapter 39 Mess With You?

Camila’s gaze briefly flicked over William’s bleeding hand, not even causing a twitch of her eyebrows.

Her indifferent attitude immediately transported him back five years.

It was the last competition of her senior year. He had a fever of 102.2°F that day, but he still insisted on attending just to see her.

When she found out he had a high fever, she panicked, her eyes red with worry as she scolded him, Are you out of your mind? You’re burning up, and you’re still going to this competition?

As he saw her so concerned for him, warmth spread through his chest, and he felt that it was all worth it. But she only grew angrier. You’re about to burn your brain out, and you’re still smiling?

Camila had never missed a competition before, but for him, she skipped that one. Camila, the fragile girl, could barely carry him, dragging him to the nearest clinic.

He lay in the clinic bed getting an IV, while she stayed by his side. Back then, they were so close, but now, they were complete strangers.

Camila, the girl who once cried over his fever, now looked at him, bleeding, with a completely neutral expression. He wondered, Is she really that indifferent?

Hazel quickly brought the first aid kit and started tending to his wound. Agnes’s eyes filled with tears as she spoke, her voice shaky, William, how could you be so careless? Hold on, it’ll be bandaged soon.

But William barely seemed to notice the pain, his gaze fixed firmly on Camila. He couldn’t look away. The sight of her calm, unreadable face stirred something in him, something he couldn’t quite describe.

Camila sat with her hands folded on her lap, as cold as a statue. The softness that once made her worry when he was sick had long turned to dust after five years in prison, leaving only a deep fear of him.

Once his wound was finally dressed, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

Harry shot Camila a furious glare. You’re so eager to get out of this family, aren’t you? Do you think marrying into the Campbell family will make you a rich, highstatus lady? Camila, you’re so materialistic.

Camila thought, Same old story.’ He projected his ugliest thoughts onto her without a second thought. But at this point, she didn’t care. As long as he was happy with his assumptions, it was fine with her.

Camila didn’t deny it. Yes, I want to marry him and live as a rich wife. Her voice was calm, completely emotionless, as though she were discussing something mundane.

Harry’s face twisted, and for a moment, he didn’t know how to respond.

He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. Giovani Campbell’s notorious reputation made him fear for Camila’s future. With her current condition, marrying him would only shorten her life.

You might make it to the marriage, but you won’t live long enough to enjoy it. I disagree,” Harry said.

Camila smiled, her expression dripping with sarcasm. Your parents agree, I agree, so what makes you think you can stop me?

Because I’m your brother!

I’ve never acknowledged that.

Harry trembled with rage at her indifference. He took a step forward, his finger almost touching Camila’s nose. Camila, dont think marrying into the Campbell family is all that great.

Do you even know what kind of man Mr. Campbell is? He’s infamoushe’s a womanizer, constantly changing partners. What kind of good life do you think you’ll have with him?

Camila slightly tilted her head, easily avoiding his pointed finger, her eyes unwavering. And so what? It’s still better than being treated like an outcast, a thorn in your side in this family.

Her voice was icy, reverberating through the spacious living room as if every word were coated in shards of ice. Arthur furrowed his brows and slammed his coffee cup down with a loud clang.Harry, enough! This has already been decided. You have no right to interfere.

Belinda quickly stood up and grabbed Harry’s arm trying to calm him Harry, don’t make things worse. Camila marrying into the Campbell family is good for her, and it Successfully unlocked!

Harry shrugged off Belinda’s hand, his chest rising and falling with anger. He glared at Camila, his eyes intense, as if he could see straight through her.

But Camila didn’t even acknowledge him.
