They Beg For My Return (Camila Jackson) novel Chapter 42

Chapter 42 You Drove Me Insane

Carmila’s slap landed without mercy.

Unlike Agnes, who had lived a pampered life, Camila had spent years doing hard labor. Her strength was not something a delicate Agnes could ever match.

A sharp crack echoed through the storage room. Agnes stumbled back, a stinging pain blooming across her cheek. Her lip split open, and a droplet of blood trickled down her chin, staining the pristine white dress she had so carefully chosen. For a moment, Agnes was too stunned to react. Her eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Camila, her mind blank

Then, the shock faded, and a tidal wave of fury surged through her veins. Hatred so consuming it nearly suffocated her. She wanted nothing more than to tear Camila apart.

You wretched bitch!Agnes shrieked. How dare you hit me? I swear, you’ll pay for this! With that, she spun on her heel and ran out of the storage room, screaming as if she had been gravely wounded.

Belinda was lounging in the living room, sipping her coffee, enjoying a rare moment of peace, when Agnes’s piercing cries shattered the tranquility.

She jolted upright, nearly spilling her drink. The next second, she saw Agnes rushing toward her, clutching her face, sobbing uncontrollably.

Mom! Help me?Agnes wailed, her voice filled with desperation, as though she had suffered the worst injustice in the world.

Belinda’s heart twisted with pain at the sight of her daughter in distress. She rushed forward, catching Agnes just before she collapsed

Agnes, what happened?Belinda’s voice trembled, her hands shaking as she lifted Agnes’s tearstreaked face. The moment she saw the deep red imprint of a slap on her cheek, her breath hitched.

Who did this to you?!she demanded, her voice laced with fury.

Agnes sniffled pitifully. Mom, it was Camila! I only went to call her for lunch, but sheshe slapped me without warning!! don’t even know what I did wrong! Why does she hate me so much?

Belinda’s hands clenched into fists. Rage burned in her chest, blinding and unforgiving. Camila! Get out here right now! she roared.

Camila wasn’t surprised to hear Belinda’s furious voice. The moment her palm connected with Agnes’s face, she had expected this reaction. But regret? There was none.

Calm and composed, she stepped out of the storage room, facing Belinda’s wrath headon.

Camila!Belinda’s eyes blazed. How could you hit Agnes? She’s your sister!

Not Why did you hit her?-only How could you?

That one sentence told Camila everything she needed to know. Belinda didn’t care what had led to this. She only cared that Agnes had been hurt. Without even questioning the truth, she had already placed all the blame squarely on Camila’s shoulders.

Some things never changed.

Camila let out a soft, cold laugh. Aren’t you going to ask me why I hit her?

Belinda’s breath caught. For a moment, she faltered, but when she saw Agnes sobbing in her arms, she steeled herself. It doesn’t matter why. You shouldn’t have hit her. Look at her face! Camila, stop being so reckless and apologize to your sister.

She knew Belinda was biased toward Agnes, and asking her was just a waste of time.

Belinda had always been this way. Always protecting Agnes, always turning a blind eye to the truth. Camila should have learned her lesson by now.

But some part of her still refused to accept it. Some part of her still wanted to fight back.

Her voice was steady, but her eyes burned with defiance. What if I told you she hit me first? That I was only defend myself?Belinda’s face twisted with disbelief. Impossible! Agnes has always been gentle and kind. Why would she And just like that, without hesitation, Belinda dismissed her You’ve only been back a few days, and already you’re ca chaos. I think you did this on purpose

Successfully unlocked!

She rattled on, accusation after accusation, not ever stopping to consider Camila’s words. But as Camila’s icy gazete into her, her voice began to waver.

Camila clenched her fists. Go on. Why did you stop? Are you hesitating because you know you’re wrong? Or because you

re too much of a coward to admit it?

Camila pressed on, her voice sharp as a blade. Since you won’t say it, I’ll say it for you. Your gentle and kind daughter fie years ago, pushed her own best friend down the stairs, leaving her in a coma. Your perfect lele anget, five years later framed me for ruining her birthday dress, humiliating me in front of Sancho’s most powerful guests

Your innocentdaughter pulled the same trick again, faking a fall and blarning me for it, just so Arthur could beat ene har to death. Just so I would have to cut off my own finger to repay the debt of being born to you. Even when

hospital, she wasn’t doneshe made sure Owen knew, so he could destroy me completely

Tell me, were you hoping he’d press charges against me? Were you hoping to see me rot in prison?

With every word, Belinda’s heart clenched tighter. Tears spilled down her face.

Mrs. Jackson!Camila’s voice rang out, cutting her off. Are you truly unaware of what Agnes has done? Or are you just pretending not to know? Are you blind to the injustice I’ve suffered, or do you enjoy watching me endure (

No, that’s not true,” Belinda choked out between sobs.

But Camila wasn’t moved. Those crocodile tears only disgusted her.

Everything you’ve done proves otherwise, she said coldly. You’ve lied to me over and over again, thinking Id believe your pathetic excuse for love. Did it make you feel good? Watching me hold onto the foolish hope that you cared? Did you laugh at me when I cried for a mother who was never really mine?

No! I love you just as much as I love Agnes!Belinda cried desperately.

Camila laughed. A hollow, bitter, aching laugh.
