They Beg For My Return (Camila Jackson) novel Chapter 56

Chapter 56 You Make Me Sick

Camila’s indifference left Owen feeling utterly powerless, like throwing a punch into thin airno impact, no resistance, just sheer frustration. All his anger and accusations were silently dissolved by her nonchalant demeanor, leaving him stifled and suffocated.

Agnes, seeing Owen get slapped, immediately teared up. Owen, are you okay?she asked with redrimmed eyes. Without waiting for his response, she turned to Camila and accused, Camila, it’s one thing if you hit me, but why did you hit Owen too? Do you know how worried he was when he heard you were injured? That’s why he came to the hospital with me to see you. Is this how you treat someone who cares about you?

Her eyes glistened with unshed tears, making her look utterly pitiful, as if she were the true victim of injustice and Camila was the unreasonable aggressor.

Camila detested Agnes’s hypocritical concern. The fake fragility, the calculated tearsit all made her stomach churn with disgust. She knew exactly what Agnes was plotting: using Owen as a pawn against her.

In the past, being misunderstood by her childhood friend would have crushed her, leaving her gasping for air from the pain. But now? Owen meant nothing to her.

Camila raised her hand again, making a move as if to slap

Agnes’s face turned deathly pale as she instinctively shrank back, hiding behind Owen with only her small head peeking out. She looked at Camila with a pitiful expression and mumbled, Camila, you’re really too much.

But in her eyes, there was a flicker of gloating triumph.

Enough!Owen grabbed Camila’s wrist, his grip tightening involuntarily as suppressed fury burned in his gaze. You need to control yourself! No one is obligated to tolerate your bad temper. If you keep lashing out like this, don’t blame me for-Before he could finish, Camila’s free hand landed another crisp slap across his face, cutting him off completely.

Owen was stunned. His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Camila. It took him a moment to recover, and when he did, his voice was laced with anger and disbelief. Camila!

Another slap. This time, it was even harder. Owen’s head snapped to the side from the force.

Three consecutive slaps had left his oncehandsome face burning red, clear handprints marring his fair complexion. Gone was the graceful and composed man of the past.

Camila met his gaze without a trace of fear, her expression unwavering

The deeper her trust had been, the deeper her loathing became.

All the beautiful memories of their past had turned to ashes under the weight of his betrayal. Now, all that remained was hatred.

Camila’s voice was cold. I told you, who do you think you are? What right do you have to interfere in our family affairs? No matter how much I’m despised, I am still Agnes’s sister in name. Disciplining my own sister is a family matter You, an outsider, should keep your nose out of it.

Owen’s lips trembled slightly. His eyes were filled with sorrow, as though he had lost something vital to his existence. He whispered, voice tinged with grievance, Camilayou hit me.”

Fifteen years. They had grown up together for fifteen years.

Owen thought backhe had always stood up for her when other kids bullied her. She had once shared her food with him when he was sick.

The laughter they had shared in the orphanage, the warmth they had given each otherhad all of that truly disappeared like smoke? Could she really abandon it all so decisively? Did she really not care about him anymore?

Owen thought, How could I be an outsider? I didn’t want to be someone who had nothing to do with her.”

They were supposed to be the closest people in the world.

Yet Camila only stared at him icily, expressionless.

Her gaze was like two cold blades, stabbing straight into Owen’s heart,

To her, his words were absurd

Camila thought, He can’t even handle a few sila Successfully unlocked!

When she needed him most, he had thrown her into prison without hesitation for Agnes’s sake.

Five years. Five years of darkness and despair in prison, all because of Owen

After everything he had done, didn’t he deserve to be hit?

Chapter 56 You Make Me Sick.

Owen’s eyes turned red as he desperately searched for any trace of warmth in Camila’s gaze. But all he found was an abyss.

of loathing.

Agnes, standing off to the side, was secretly delighted, eager to see Owen and Camila’s relationship shatter beyond repair. But on the surface, she played the concerned peacemaker. Tugging at Owen’s sleeve, she softly said, Owen, don’t be sad. Maybe Camila is just angry right now.

After comforting Owen, she turned to Camila with teary eyes, looking utterly wronged. Camila, don’t blame Owen. Blame me instead. It’s all my fault. I’m the one who’s bad. If you want to hit someone, hit me. I deserve it

Her voice trembled with a sorrowful fragility that could fool anyone unaware of her true nature

Camila scoffed. Cut the act, Agnes. I remember every single thing you’ve done.

She wasn’t making a move against Agnes now simply because she had more pressing mattersHazel and Lucy’s safety came first. Once they were taken care of, she would make sure Agnes paid in full.

She had nothing left to lose. Her body was already broken beyond repair, she wouldn’t live long anyway.

If she had to die, she’d drag Agnes down with her.

Camila’s face twisted in disgust as she looked at Owen and Agnes. Seeing you two makes me sick. Do me a favordon’t ever visit me again under the pretense of concern.

Camila, how can you be like this?Agnes tried to argue, still playing her role. But the moment Camila raised her hand again, the words caught in her throat. She shut her mouth obediently, though a glint of malice flashed in her eyes

Owen looked at Camila, wanting to get closer to at least exchange a few more words. But he hesitated, unable to take that step forward. Instead, his gaze was filled with pain and helplessness.

After a long silence, he finally spoke in a hoarse voice, Camila, you’re not in a good state right now. I’ll come back in a few days to see you.

With that, he took Agnes’s hand and left.

As soon as they were gone, Camila exhaled in relief. What bad luck.
