Agnes smiled and said, I’m here with my best friend to attend her motherinlaw’s birthday banquet.

As she spoke, she clung to Robin’s arm and pouted playfully. Come on, Robin, you’re the host’s daughterinlaw, Can’t you bring William in with us too?

Hearing Agnes’s affectionate tone, Robin figured William was the man Agnes liked.

Robin chuckled and patted her hand, but then turned to Bill with a sharp look. Lindsey is my motherinlaw. Are you seriously going to stop me too?

Bill immediately plastered on a polite smile. Of course not. But we still have to follow the rules. Since you’re part of the Campbell family, you should have an invitation, right?

Robin didn’t waste time and pulled a golden invitation card from her bag.

The invitations for Campbell family members were gold, unlike the red ones for other guests. Bill carefully checked it, and his attitude shifted instantly. His smile widened as he said, Please go right in.

Robin raised her chin slightly, looking proud and confident. These two are my guests. They’ll be coming in with me.

Bill hesitated for a moment. But seeing that William was clearly connected to the Campbell family, he figured it wouldn’t be a problem even without an invitation. Not wanting to cause trouble, he stepped aside to let them through.

Agnes, Robin, and William entered the hotel together.

The moment they stepped into the banquet hall, they were greeted by dazzling lights and lively chatter. The crystal chandeliers sparkled, casting a soft glow over the guests in glamorous outfits and glittering jewelry.

William’s face was cold and composed as his sharp eyes swept across the room, searching for connections that could benefit the Connor Group.

Spotting a few familiar faces in the crowd, William didn’t spare a glance at Agnes or Robin. He casually grabbed a glass of wine from a passing server and strode off toward the group.

Agnes clung to Robin’s arm, her gaze darting around the room. No matter how hard she looked, she couldn’t spot that tall, striking figure with his air of elegance. Her brow furrowed as frustration and disappointment crept in.

She hadn’t come here to celebrate Lindsey’s birthday. Her mind was entirely on Giovani. But now, with the crowd bustling around her, she couldn’t even catch a glimpse of him.

Letting go of Robin’s arm, Agnes said softly, Robin, I’m going to the restroom.

With Robin’s nod of approval, she quickly slipped out of the banquet hall, her mind set on finding Giovani.

Agnes lingered near the restroom door, her gaze flitting around as she waited for Giovani to emerge. Ten minutes passed, but there was still no sign of him. Frustrated yet unwilling to give up, she turned and made her way toward the hotel’s private suites.

Inside one of the rooms, Andy glanced at her watch. Five minutes until the banquet starts. Let’s head over,he said.

Camila nodded and rose gracefully. Andy stepped forward, meticulously smoothing out the hem of her gown. Once everything was in place, the two of them exited the room, moving with an air of effortless elegance.

As luck would have it, the moment they stepped out, they came facetoface with Agnes.

Agnes’s face darkened the moment her eyes landed on Camila. She had been eagerly looking forward to this event, hoping

Camila, dressed in a flowing pink chiffon gown, looked like a princess who had stepped straight out of a fairy tale. Under the soft glow of the lights, she seemed to shine with an almost otherworldly charm.

The gown’s layered, cascading design resembled soft, dreamy clouds, light and ethereal. Her delicate makeup brought out her features, making her beauty even more striking.

Her skin was smooth and radiant, with a faint blush that added a natural allure. Her lips, painted a vibrant cherry red, were perfectly shaped, and the slight upward curve of her mouth hinted at a subtle, almost teasing smile that could captivate

anyone.

A few playful strands of hair fell across her forehead, perfectly complementing the intricate hair accessories she wore. It only served to enhance her already breathtaking appearance.

Seeing Camila like this was like a spark to dry kindling for Agnes. She hated how dazzling Camila looked, knowing all too well that Camila’s beauty was a flawless blend of Arthur and Belinda’s best features.

It was precisely because Camila was so stunning that Agnes had schemed against her time and again, wishing to destroy that perfect face.

What’s she doing here? Is she here to catch Giovani’s attention? The mere thought of it made Agnes’s hatred for Camila burn even hotter.

Camila, however, merely glanced at Agnes with a calm indifference, her expression unreadable. Today was Lindsey’s birthday celebration, and she wasn’t about to let someone like Agnes ruin it.

Adjusting the gift box in her arms, Camila turned to Andy and said softly, Let’s go.”

Agnes, seeing no one around, dropped her act. Her eyes burned with jealousy and malice as she glared at Camila. Dressing up like thisAre you trying to catch some guy’s eye?she sneered, her voice dripping with venom.

Someone like you, who’s been in jail, is only good enough to be some old man’s mistress!Agnes’s shrill voice echoed through the empty hallway.

Camila kept walking, her face calm and unbothered. She knew Agnes’s vile nature all too well and had long grown used to her bottomless insults.

After all, during her time in prison, she had endured far worse. A few harsh words were nothing now. She wasn’t about to let Agnes ruin her day, especially not todayLindsey’s birthday celebration mattered far more.

The more indifferent Camila acted, the angrier Agnes became. In her mind, Camila should have been reduced to tears, breaking down and screaming like a madwoman under her insults.

Every time Camila lost her temper, Arthur, Belinda, and Harry would rally behind Agnes, collectively condemning Camila. It was a tactic Agnes had used successfully countless times.

But today, her plan backfired. Camila didn’t break down or lose her composure. She didn’t even acknowledge Agnes. Being completely ignored drove Agnes into a frenzy.

Suddenly, Agnes lunged forward, grabbing Camila’s hair with one hand, her nails nearly digging into Camila’s scalp. She screamed, You wretch! Stop pretending to be so high and mighty. Today, I’ll show youyou’re nothing in front of me.

Camila was caught off guard by the sudden attack. She instinctively tried to break free, but Agnes held on tightly.
