Chapter 31 

Ethan Carter watched Emma Johnson’s headstrong, cold back, and felt a vague sense of boredom and anger. As a cab approached her, Olivia Brooks‘ arm was suddenly tugged. She was surprised to see the grim, angry face of Ethan Carter. 

“Ethan–” 

As soon as she opened her mouth, Ethan Carter rudely pulled her back, and without hesitation, shoved her into the car, where the door was slammed shut with a deafening.

Emma felt a wave of confusion, quickly gripping the door handle, only to be pinned in place by Ethan’s icy gaze. It wasn’t until he was in the car that the suffocating feeling of oppression subsided. She took a deep breath, pursed her lips, and turned to look out the window, clearly showing resistance and indifference. 

“Are you offended by someone, so will be splashed with paint?” He broke the silence in the car. 

“Whether I have offended someone, offended who, I think you know clearly in your heart.” Emma’s tone is as cold as ice. 

Ethan was dumbfounded, realizing that what he had just said was nonsense. “This matter I will definitely investigate clearly, if it is really what she did, I will definitely let her personally give you an apology, will not let you for nothing 

“No need, Mr. Carter, you don’t have to bother, I can solve my own matters.” Emma interrupted without hesitation. 

In Emma’s eyes, what Ethan said was nothing more than an attempt to stabilize her. He had also said that he would look into the matter of Olivia’s fall down the stairs, but in the end, it had not been resolved. Therefore, Emma didn’t trust Ethan at all. 

Ethan felt a frown on his face, and a sudden sense of strangeness welled up in his heart. Five years ago, Emma was obedient to him, even though he never smiled at her, she still had no regrets and carefully loved him…… but now, her eyes are only detached, even with caution, this attitude makes him feel helpless. 

Three Years to love 

The atmosphere in the car once again fell into silence, Emma felt a little awkward, so she turned her eyes out the window, staring at the fast–flashing scenery.

“Thanks to Mr. Carter for giving me a ride home today.” Emma smiled faintly, thanked him politely, then opened the door and stepped out of the car without hesitation. 

“Emma,” a low voice suddenly sounded. She turned her head back, Ethan had already gotten out of the car, his tall figure leaning on the side of the car, his dark eyes revealing complex emotions, gazing at her quietly. 

Emma looked at him, “Ethan is there anything else?” 

Ethan was surprised, he didn’t know why, watching her leave without leaving, the impulse in his heart made him a little resistant, his face was slightly gloomy.
