Chapter 48 

“Grandpa!” 

Emma Johnson exclaimed with joy, and although she had had mixed emotions on the way here, she gradually relaxed the moment she saw Mr. Carter Sr. 

“Em, I’ve finally waited for you to come back, grandpa has been looking forward to you.” Mr. Carter Sr. was so excited that he had a big smile on his face as he and Emma chatted and walked towards the house, completely ignoring Ethan Carter who was standing by. 

Ethan knew in his heart how happy the old man was to see Emma. 

“Em, why did I leave without telling you back then, it made grandpa so anxious.” Mr. Carter Sr. sighed helplessly, remembering the past. 

“Grandpa, he decided to leave in a hurry, so he didn’t have time to say goodbye to you, and after he returned to China, he didn’t have time to visit you because of his work, I’m really sorry.” Emma was filled with guilt, five years had passed, Mr. Carter Sr. looked much older than before, she didn’t realize that the old man had been thinking about. her for these five years. 

“Good boy, there is no need to apologize to grandpa, it’s good to be back!” Mr. Carter Sr. smiled and waved his hand, he didn’t care about that at all, he only wanted Emma to come home. 

“Go and see if dinner is ready.” He turned his head, and called out to Ethan, a serious expression on his face. 

Ethan obeyed, getting up and walking obediently towards the kitchen, “Grandpa, dinner is ready.” Soon he folded back. 

“Emma, come on, let’s talk over dinner.” Mr. Carter Sr. had a pampered look on his face as he led Emma towards the kitchen, Ethan looking like a transparent person. 

Emma and Ethan had gotten an abrupt divorce five years ago, and the old man had always had a problem with him, not to mention not allowing Olivia Brooks in the house, which was one of the reasons why the two of them hadn’t gotten back together. 

Three Years to Love Ethan: 

He looked at Emma, Emma also froze for a moment, the moment she met his eyes, she was a little embarrassed, and hastily refused, “No, Grandpa, he can do it himself, don’t 

bother Mr. Carter.” 

She subconsciously wanted to call “Mr. Carter“, but felt that it was not appropriate in the company, so she could only call him instead. 

Hearing her distant name, Mr. Carter Sr. felt bad in his heart, but there was nothing he could do about it, who let this kid bully him so much back then! 

Under the old man’s almost murderous eyes, Ethan could only pick up the chopsticks, put a piece of pork chop into her bowl, and then ate his own meal indifferently. 

Emma: 

She looked down at the piece of ribs in the bowl, how to look at how eyesore, delayed to move chopsticks. 

“Emma, eat up, this is something Zhang Ma specially made for me, my favorite braised pork ribs she made!” Mr. Carter Sr. looked at her expectantly. 

Emma didn’t want to disappoint her old master, so she just picked up the piece of ribs and took a bite. 

“Em, I’m so glad to see you, you haven’t been around all those years, I wish you could stay tomorrow morning too, spend some time with grandpa, all these years, Ethan has been so focused on his work, it’s too lonely for his old man to be home alone.” 

Mr. Carter Sr. lowered his eyes and did not pretend to look sad, the loneliness and despair of an empty–nester was well portrayed. 

Emma froze and swallowed her refusal. 

The old man’s intentions she understood, but a good horse does not go back to grass, her resentment towards Ethan has long since ceased to exist……
