Through the Screen novel Chapter 70

"chris! what the hell are you doing here, i've been searching for you everywhere," abel 's voice is loud and accusing, his words slurred together as he furrows his eyebrows at chris who is sitting outside the conference hall, completely unaffected by the harsh weather.

"chris? what's wrong, why are you sitting here? let's go back inside," abel leans down and grips chris' arm, his fingers curling around his bicep as he attempts to pick his friend off the ground, but chris has absolutely no will to get off his spot, and so he shakes off abel 's grip and invites him to sit down next to him.

"sit down, i need to talk to you," chris says, his voice small, and abel can instantly feel the alcohol in his system being replaced by worry at chris' demeanour, and he quickly settles down next to him, their arms pressed together and their knees touching.

"what's up?" abel 's hand reaches forward to grip chris', in order to comfort him and bring at least some sort of emotion on his bland face, and chris' simply purses his lips and breathes out loud.

"noah is cheating on you," he says, the words sounding ridiculous as they fall off his tongue and more so when abel shifts back from him, his hand leaving chris' as he wears a confused expression on his face.

"what?" the way abel says the word takes everything in chris to not comfort him. it is laced with so much emotion, so much confusion and just plain hurt, and he watches silently as the colour drains from abel 's previously pink cheeks.

"he, i, i'm sorry abel," chris sighs and abel just shakes his head, pushing away chris' hand violently when it tries to grip his in a comforting gesture.

"how do you know? what the hell are you talking about? noah can never do that, you're lying," abel rambles, his thoughts meddling together and clinking so loudly in his brain that it causes an unfamiliar ache to arise within his head, moisture rising to the brim of his eyes as he thinks about what chris said. this can't be true. noah cannot cheat on him.
