Alfredo felt glad that Lila no longer kept all her troubles to herself. Her past self wouldn't have confronted Gordon's assistant directly like she just did.
Under Kieran's influence, she had really changed.
Staring down at the floor, she quietly greeted them, "Hello, Uncle Alfredo and Mr. Klime."
Gordon fixed his eyes on Lila. "You're so grown up. I haven't seen you in years. Don't worry. I'll definitely teach my assistant a lesson for you."
She nodded. Then, she asked Alfredo, "Uncle Alfredo, can I talk to Mr. Klime privately?"
The two men seemed taken aback. That request immediately reminded them of her long-dead parents.
Clutching the vacuum flask, Alfredo replied warmly, "Go. I'll wait for you in my office."
Gordon guided Lila into his office. He began, "I've been getting too busy over the years. I thought of visiting you a few times, but I didn't want to bring back the sad memories."
Whether or not that was just pleasantries did not matter to Lila, who grunted.
Then, she asked, "Mr. Klime, the Morgan Group was involved in a core technology leak shortly after my parents passed away. Are these two issues related?
"My parents didn't die in an accident. Someone tried to harm them. Is that true?"
Her question wiped off the smile on Gordon's face. He wondered, "Do you suspect foul play in your parents' death?"
She frowned at his response. Wasn't that the truth?
She blurted out, "That's right. My parents left home in a hurry after they received a call. I remember Dad bringing his phone when he left, but his phone wasn't listed on the file at the police station.
"Their deaths were classified as sudden deaths, but the Morgan Group got into trouble right after that. The two events must have been connected!"
