Torn Between Love and Hate novel Chapter 234

Chapter 234 A Life Owed

The next morning, Deborah went straight to the hospital.

Simone was still in the hospital, and she didn’t have many relatives or friends in Oceanview City. Her parents’ home and her husband’s family were both located in a neighboring small town.

Joseph was worried about her, fearing that something might happen to her again if she was alone. He insisted on canceling his morning meeting to accompany her.

Deborah had no choice but to go along with it.

She brought breakfast for Simone and when she arrived at the hospital room, Simone was already up.

As soon as Deborah entered, she saw her sitting by the window, her back facing the door, not moving at all.

Deborah looked out of her window, seeing nothing. Simone is probably lost in thought.

Deborah never quite understood why Simone, who had such a pleasant personality, didn’t seem to have many friends in Oceanview City despite working there for so many years. Other than her and Mona, her two colleagues, it appeared that Simone didn’t have any additional friends.

Even when she was invited by Mona, Simone was always reluctant to join them for dinner and fun after work.

Now she guessed that it was probably Damian’s constant pestering that made Simone not want to involve others.

Deborah looked at Simone’s retreating figure, and for a moment, it seemed as if she saw her past self.

Suddenly, she felt a little heartache.

But she knew Simone’s character well strong-willed and not one to appreciate others pitying or comforting her.

Deborah hid her emotions and casually walked over with a smile, saying:

“What are you looking at? Those bare tree branches aren’t even nice to look at. I brought you some food, .if you mind it, go ahead and eat.”

don’t

Simone snapped back to reality, quickly wiping her face with her hand and turning to look at Deborah with a slightly flustered expression.

“Y-You’re here.”

Deborah placed the bag on the coffee table and began to take out the breakfast items one by one, arranging them

neatly.

“Let’s have something to eat first. I just spoke with the doctor, and he said it’s best for you to stay in the hospital for a couple of days to recover properly. Your manager said you can take some time off, so don’t worry about work. Your health is the priority.”

“Alright,” Simone agreed, sitting down on the sofa and quietly eating her food.

After a while, she looked at Deborah and said, “Thank you, I’m sorry for causing you trouble.”

Deborah waited until she had almost finished eating before cautiously speaking up, “Simone, I just want to say, if you really have any difficulties, feel free to share them. We can all work together to find a solution.

We’ve been colleagues and friends for so many years, and I really hope I can help you. Your husband’s actions yesterday probably weren’t the first time he’s done something like that.

You should stop wasting time with him. If something happens later, the consequences will be unimaginable.”

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Damian dared to repeatedly kick and stomp on Simone, even grabbing Deborah’s hair and threatening the security guards not to interfere.

Such a man had a severe tendency toward violence, recklessness, and an inability to gauge the gravity of situations.

Moreover, he publicly demanded that Joseph and Simone compensate him, clearly showing that he is greedy and trying to extort money from them.

Since it was all about his greed, perhaps the situation wasn’t that difficult to resolve.

Moreover, that man seemed impulsive and not very bright.

Simone lowered her head and didn’t eat anything else.

After a long silence, she suddenly burst into tears, with large teardrops falling onto the coffee table.

In a fluster, she grabbed a tissue and hastily wiped her eyes.

Deborah had never seen her like this before. In the past, when Deborah was feeling down, Simone would always comfort her, saying that it’s important to maintain a positive attitude.

Deborah and Mona were of similar ages, but Simone had always been like an older sister to them.

She was a few years older than them, and much more mature and sensible.

Deborah used to think that Simone had such a great attitude, that she must never experience sadness or heartache.

But who would have thought, her life was not good at all.

Simone couldn’t stop wiping her tears away, but the more she wiped, the more they fell.

Deborah truly felt heartbroken and couldn’t help but reach out to embrace her shoulders, allowing her head to rest on her body.

“Don’t be like this. If there’s something bothering you, just tell me, and we’ll figure it out together. Mona is really worried about you too. She even called me this morning, asking me to come to the hospital and make sure to check on you.”

Simone sobbed uncontroll

Because she had experienced such despair and helplessness herself, she cannot bear to see others in the same situation, and eager to help them.

Allow others not to be threatened, and not to compromise themselves.

Simone was struggling to maintain control, but despite her best efforts, she couldn’t help but cry out loud.

Joseph, who was waiting outside, got frightened and worried that something might have happened inside. He immediately went in to check.

Seeing Simone leaning on Deborah, and noticing that Deborah didn’t seem to mind, he quietly slipped away.

Simone cried for a long time before she finally choked out, “Our family owes Damian’s family a life.”

When Simone’s father was still alive, he would use his private car to illegally operate as a taxi.

As a result, during the drive to drop off the guest, a car accident occurred. Tragically, Simone’s father and the guest both died on the spot.

And that guest was none other than Damian’s father.

Deborah never imagined it would be such a serious matter.

She thought for a moment before asking, “Did you call the police at that time, or did you handle it privately?”

Simone said with a trembling voice, “At that time, Damian’s family and iny family didn’t know each other at all. As soon as the incident happened, the Zeller family immediately called the police.

The fines and compensation added up to nearly 300 thousand dollars. My family could only come up with about half

of that, and I was just twenty years old at the time…”

Deborah looked at her and asked, “So, you married Damian?”

Simone hung her head low, as if to admit her agreement.

”

Not only did she marry into the family, but for all these years, she has been sending almost her entire monthly salary

to the Zeller family.

The Zeller family also mentioned that a few thousand dollars per month could only be considered as interest.

The unpaid amount of around 150 thousand dollars will still need to be paid in full eventually.

Deborah seemed to understand. She fell silent for a moment, thinking, before speaking up again: “Then let’s take it to court. Your family owes the Zeller family compensation. Let the lawyer calculate the principal and interest.

Remove the part of the debt that you’ve paid off in the past few years, and clear the rest. Then gather evidence of Damian’s domestic violence against you and file for divorce.”

Fortunately, as far as she knew, Simone did not have any children.

Simone was clearly uneasy. “I’ve tried, but their family is unwilling to divorce. Besides, I can’t come up with the
