Torn Between Love and Hate novel Chapter 239

Chapter 239 Resentment Frustration and Envy

Cassandra said she had something important to discuss, her expression was very serious, and it was clear that it was

no small matter.

Upon hearing this, the members of the Moxley family all turned their gazes toward her.

Cassandra had made up her mind. After hiding it for so many years, she could no longer bear it.

Especially when looking at Deborah lying in bed, her niece, who had almost died at the hands of her own husband not

too long ago.

The year Deborah was born, Mathias made up his mind that she must die.

It’s a miracle that Deborah has managed to survive until today, truly escaping death’s grasp.

But now that Mathias has discovered her identity, how many more times can she escape death?

Cassandra could no longer wait, nor could she hide it any longer.

Cassandra clenched her fists tightly, took a deep breath, and finally spoke, “I stopped Mathias today to prevent Deborah from getting hurt, and there’s no other reason. There’s something I’ve kept hidden for too long. Deborah is actually a part of our Moxley family…”

It seemed as if Nora had a premonition of sorts. She looked toward the bed, her gaze fixed on Deborah. Emotions swirled in the depths of Nora’s eyes.

She waited for Cassandra to continue, just needing one more sentence, just a few more words, to fully understand. what she was trying to say.

Outside the hospital room, a voice interrupted Cassandra’s words.

“Mom, Granny, Uncle Sebastian, Aunt Nora, you all made it!”

The person who walked in through the door was Rebecca.

Rebecca should have called Donna “Grandma,” but the old lady loved her so much and treated her like her own granddaughter, allowing her to call her “Granny.”

Everyone knows quite well that Donna is just heartbroken over the loss of her granddaughter, and she’s using her as a means of self-comfort.

Cassandra was on the verge of saying, “Deborah is indeed our own flesh and blood, a true member of the Moxley family,” but she swallowed the words back down.

Cassandra glanced nervously at Rebecca, who suddenly walked in, and hesitated for a moment.

Nora was getting anxious. Seeing that Cassandra had stopped talking, she couldn’t even bother with Rebecca. She urged directly, “What is Deborah’s relation to the Moxley family?”

Rebecca walked in and glanced at the weak-looking Deborah lying in bed, then turned to look at her own mother, Cassandra, whose face had turned pale.

Rebecca felt that there might be something going on here.

She knew her mother well, and the expression on her mother’s face now indicated that she was hiding something.

Rebecca wouldn’t care about what Cassandra would say, and she had no idea what Cassandra was going to say. anyway.

But now is a special time, as Ashton’s bone marrow transplant is about to take place soon.

Rebecca even dreams at night of something unexpected happening, which is why she has become particularly sensitive lately.

Seeing her mother like this, she said, “Mom, I heard that Dad hurt Ms. Shepherd. Can I talk to you privately for a moment to understand the situation? I also have something else to discuss with you.”

Cassandra felt a bit uneasy, but nodded, “Alright.”

She turned around and was about to leave.

Somehow, Nora’s emotions suddenly became uncontrollable, and she blurted out, “Cassandra, you haven’t finished what you were saying. Everyone in our family is listening, so please finish before you go.”

Cassandra had made up her mind, but once she started to waver, it became difficult to tell the truth in one breath.

But she thought that she had to speak up today. So, she decided to talk to Rebecca first and then proceed from there.

Cassandra spoke up a bit nervously, “Nora, let me talk to Rebecca for a moment. What I was about to say isn’t really important, so I’ll bring it up later.”

Nora was feeling a bit anxious, but her upbringing didn’t allow her to be too pushy.

She nodded, “Alright, let’s talk about it later then.”

With a great sense of relief, Cassandra immediately left the hospital room with Rebecca.

Once they reached the outside of the ward, the two of them went straight into the adjacent lounge. Cassandra locked

the door behind them.

Rebecca asked softly, “Mom, why did Dad kidnap Deborah? You must know, right? And just now, when you were in the hospital room, what did you want to say?”

Cassandra’s face turned pale, and after a long while, she said with a trembling voice, “Rebecca, Mom and Dad owe you an apology. There are some things that we’ve kept hidden from the entire Moxley family, and from you for far too

many years.

I’m sorry, but your father just won’t come to his senses, and I can’t take it anymore. I have to speak up. This might have a significant impact on your life, but your Mom has no choice, I just can’t bear it any longer.”

Rebecca had a bad feeling in her heart, and her tone became increasingly impatient.

“Mom, don’t try to make me confused. If there’s something you want to say, just tell me directly and keep it short.”

She noticed Cassandra’s hesitation and went on to say, “Mom, feel free to tell me anything. I don’t mind, and I can

handle it.

But now, Ashton is about to undergo a bone marrow transplant, and both Deborah and Alyssa have agreed to donate their bone marrow. No matter what you say, it cannot affect his surgery and treatment.”

Cassandra fell silent for a moment before finally speaking, “Rebecca, years ago, when your aunt was in a different city, she experienced an earthquake and gave birth prematurely. The child went missing.

In fact, it was your father who did something, and I found out later. But I, being weak and incapable, was afraid it would affect your life, so she kept it a secret until now.”

Cassandra spoke incoherently, revealing everything that had happened back then.

Rebecca shuddered as she listened, and after a long pause, she said in disbelief, “Are you saying that Dad caused the

death of Aunt’s daughter?”

Cassandra’s eyes were red and swollen, her face filled with regret and helplessness.

Rebecca quickly calmed down and recalled the words she had heard Cassandra say when she had just stepped outside the hospital room.

“Actually, Deborah is a member of the Moxley family…”

In Rebecca’s mind, it was as if something had suddenly pricked her.

Suddenly, she understood what Cassandra was about to say next.

Fingertips slowly pressing into her palm, Rebecca struggled to speak, “That child is still alive, it’s Deborah, right?”

Cassandra’s body suddenly tensed up, and her voice became so low that it was almost inaudible.

That faint sound still reached Rebecca’s ears: “Yes.”

Rebecca felt as if her mind had exploded in an instant.

Deborah is the child of the Moxley family, the biological daughter of Nora, and the biological granddaughter of Donna.
