Chapter 44 However, that only lasted for a second. When Lara pulled herself back together, she lashed out and pointed at Molly. “Watch your attitude when you’re talking to your brother!”
‘Hah!’ Molly did not want to argue with them in the hospital ward, but Lara had been pushing her buttons, so she could only scoff. “Are you joking? My brother? What brother? I don’t remember having any brothers.” “Molly May! What attitude is this?! How rude!” Walter yelled at Molly when he saw her behavior.
Both Molly’s eyes and expression were cold. “I have always been like this. I return favors and treat people the way they treat me! Keep it to yourself if you’re upset about it!” She then turned and covered Grandpa Dave with the blanket gently. “Molly!” Behind Molly, Diana pretended to be shocked as she interrupted, “How could you talk to your family like this? No matter what, they’re still the elder ones. If you’re angry, you should let it out on me. After all, I was the one who took your family away from you. I was also the one who made grandpa fall. But I beg you to treat dad, mom, and Nathan with respect. They did nothing wrong, and you shouldn’t act like this.” Diana spoke passionately as if she was sincere. She was defending Walter, Lara, and Nathan and even putting all of the blame on herself. Molly did not even have to look back to know that Diana was speaking with an innocent look on her face.
As expected, Lara’s voice was heard at the very next second. “Diana, why are you putting all the blame on yourself? You did nothing wrong! We can only blame fate. Why aren’t you my real daughter?”
“Hah!” Molly could not hold back her sneer. She had a stern look on her face as she spoke without the slightest hesitation, “The mother-daughter bond you share sure is strong! Diana May… Oh, wait. Your last name isn’t May. Who are you to lecture me?” Diana was not having it and was looking pitiful as she stood behind them. Lara yelled, “Have you no respect?” Before Molly could speak, Alex already had enough of them bullying his mother. He immediately responded, “Respect is earned. My mom doesn’t need to have any respect for a disrespectful person.” “That’s right! You’re all ganging up on my mommy, yet you’re talking about respect?” Ben’s stomach was protruding when he put his hands on his hips and spoke. Claudia puffed out her cheeks and chimed in angrily, “Yeah! You people are the ones who are disrespectful!”
Lara’s face turned red from anger as she got lectured by the triplets. ‘Who are the triplets to
speak?’
She pointed at them and yelled, “You mongrels! Is this how you talk to me? I’m your grandmother. Molly, is this how you educate your children? The apple really doesn’t fall far from the tree. Every one of you from the countryside is a mongrel. You’re embarrassing!” Molly’s face darkened when she heard her triplets being insulted. She stood up and stared at Lara dead in her eyes as she walked toward her with her suffocating presence. She then asked in a deep voice, “Mongrels? Say that one more time.” At that moment, Molly was exactly like a mother bear protecting her cubs. Her eyes were fierce as she glared at Lara like she was going to pound at her the very next second.
Lara was frightened by Molly’s stance! She retreated instinctively as she wanted to escape. Molly’s gaze was too terrifying!
