“You are overthinking, I just can’t stand Conor.” Joseph replied dryly.

Bob and Stephen smiled at each other.

They just keep it tacit.

Home should be the warmest place.

But Elizabeth had a cold home.

Seeing Elizabeth come back from LH City dragging suitcase, Maisie, her mother did not show concern about her, but said cynically, “Why do you work in a big city with low academic qualification? You are overestimating yourself!”

“Mom, I have not graduated so it is not easy to find a job without graduation certificate!” Elizabeth countered.

Maisie was still contemptuous, “Drop out of your school. Anyway, it is a waste of money. What can you do even if you get the diploma? You just have a degree in junior college school, no company in a big city wants you.”

Maisie’s words like a sword stabbed in the heart of Elizabeth. She did not want to talk with Maisie anymore and went upstairs carrying the suitcase.

“You’re not half as good as Winnie! And don’t wish me and your dad to pay for your second year of college!”

Maisie shouted at the top of her voice.

Winnie was Elizabeth’s cousin and a daughter from a rich family. Maisie liked her so much that Elizabeth had a kind of illusion that Winnie Rees was born by her mother and she was adopted.

Elizabeth slammed the door, with tears falling down her face. She was not in the mood to have dinner.

She heard that Maisie saying to her father Martin outside the door, “Elizabeth is useless! Winnie studies in foreign first-class undergraduate university and won the first-class scholarship every semester! Elizabeth is not a match to her!”

“Elizabeth gets the first scholarship every semester too! Honey, don’t say that, Winnie is Elizabeth’s cousin, and your sister has married into a rich family, so we cannot compare between them.” Elizabeth’s was impatient.

Maisie said, “Why not? Elizabeth’s scholarship of the ordinary school was not the same with that of Winnie. They were both born in the same room on the same day, but how could they be so different?”

But the difference was normal, anyway Elizabeth was not...

“Honey, actually Elizabeth is not...”

Martin interrupted the thoughts of Maisie.

Maisie was sensitive, wondering if her husband had known about the things of Elizabeth.
