Izabella took out the pill, and then walked barefoot to the water dispenser to get a cup of water. She was about to take it when there was a movement on the bed. Izabella's body stiffened, and she turned her head.
The man who had just been asleep was now awake, sitting up in bed with the blanket sliding down to his waist. Izabella adjusted to the dim light and could vaguely see Brett's well-defined muscles on his upper body.
"What are you taking?" Brett asked, even though he knew what Izabella was taking, as if looking for unrealistic reassurance.
"Birth control pill."
"I took precautions, you don't need to take the pill. Taking too many can be harmful," Brett said, his eyes falling on Izabella's hand.
"Just to be extra safe." Izabella pinched the pill, threw it in her mouth as she tilted her head back, and swallowed it with a sip of cold water.
Brett's eyes became even deeper in the darkness, as he narrowed them to watch Izabella's movements. His hands propped up on the bed squeezed so hard that the sheets crumpled into a ball.
How afraid was she of getting pregnant with his child? Even though he'd already taken precautions, she was still uneasy, even if she was asleep she still had to get up and take the pill.
Brett's gaze was murky, like a wolf lurking in the dark, his eyes filled with a strong sense of coercion. Izabella had gotten used to his gaze, but she still felt frightened when he stared at her for so long.
Izabella gripped the cup hard in her hand and did a heavy mental struggle before putting it down and walking to the bedside.
Before she even reached the bed, Brett's long arm reached out and grabbed her wrist. His grip was strong, and Izabella couldn't break free no matter how hard she tried.
"Don't take the pill anymore," Brett said softly in the darkness.
"Can you promise not to touch me then?" Izabella asked.
Brett pulled Izabella onto the bed, "I promised I wouldn't get you pregnant. Those pills are bad for your health if you take too many." He had heard that taking too many could disrupt hormone levels and impact the uterus. Her uterus was already fragile and difficult to get pregnant, so if she kept taking the pills, she might never be able to have children.
