As the footsteps drew closer, Izabella could see the person entering the room clearly. They were wearing a ghost king mask, revealing a pair of deep eyes.
Izabella trembled all over. She was scared of the unfamiliar environment, afraid of the unknown fate ahead, and feared her captor. She knew from the things she saw in the room that he was not going to make it easy on her.
Two other men in black, wearing bizarre black and white masks, entered as well. Their faces were covered, revealing only their eyes and mouth.
Izabella put on a brave face and locked eyes with the man wearing the ghost king mask. "You're not Heckter," she said bluntly.
The man looked surprised. He had heard Izabella's terrified voice on the monitor just a moment ago, but he hadn't expected her to calm down so quickly.
Brett's woman was indeed different, he thought, feeling a bit peeved.
"If you want to see Heckter, I can call him over," the man said maliciously.
Izabella bit her lip and changed the subject. "Who are you? Why did you kidnap Kaley and make me come here to trade?"
"It was Brett who wanted to trade you, not me," the man replied, sitting on the operating table chair, crossing his legs, and playing with a syringe while looking at Izabella with a sinister expression. "Don't struggle. Those chains holding you can't be broken, even with a knife. The more you struggle, the more it will just hurt you."
Izabella's wrists and ankles were already raw and painful, but she couldn't break free. She refused to be treated like a helpless victim.
The man found it amusing to watch Izabella struggle on the bed, like a butterfly caught in a spider's web, showing its last beauty before dying.
"I've been wanting to taste one of Brett's women for a while now." The man put down the syringe and walked up to Izabella, grabbing her face.
His aura was not so much cold as it was decayed, like the poisonous gases in a swamp.
"Scared?" he asked.
How could she not be? After all, people are afraid of pain.
Izabella had a vague idea that this man might be Brett's enemy. Although she had known Brett for years, she had never known that among his foes, one wore such a ghost king mask.
"If you're trying to hurt Brett, you've made the wrong choice. You should know from the fact that Brett allowed me to bring money to exchange for Kaley that he cares more about her than about me."
"Really?"
Izabella was silent.
The man continued, "It seems you're pretty upset that Brett chose Kaley over you."
Izabella weakly replied, "Does my opinion even matter?"
Her life obviously didn't matter to anyone, so who would care about her feelings? No matter if she was willing or not, she would end up here anyway.
To Brett, she was just an toy, something to be traded without a thought.
The man sneered, "Well, let's get to the point then." He suddenly released Izabella's jaw, moved to her neck, and ripped her collar to shreds, exposing her skin to the cold air. Izabella's mind went blank.
