Izabella's stomach was throbbing with pain, like something was moving inside. She rushed to the bathroom and was totally shocked when she saw the blood on her pants.
Her period had arrived.
She put on a pad and filled a hot water bottle, but it could do nothing to alleviate the pain. She swallowed two strong painkillers, and finally the agonizing pain was suppressed.
Curled up in bed, she felt completely drained and couldn't even concentrate.
Trista went upstairs to check on her, "Ms. Salotti, are you okay? Do you need me to call a doctor?"
Izabella clutched the blanket and rasped, "No, it's just that time of the month. I'll be fine in a couple of days."
Trista nodded and left the room, closing the door gently.
Before long, there were footsteps again, the door opened, and Izabella thought it was Trista without even looking.
It wasn't until a shadow loomed over her that she realized something was amiss. She looked up and saw Brett's face.
"How did you get in here?"
"You look awful," Brett said, looking at Izabella's sickly pale face. "Are you still in pain?"
"Yes."
Brett took out his phone to call a doctor.
"What are you doing?"
"Calling a doctor." He knew Izabella didn't like hospitals, so he had hired a family doctor half a month ago.
But she refused, "I don't want to see a doctor." She had stomach cancer and was afraid the doctor would find out.
"If you don't want to see a doctor now, you might not get a chance when you need one."
"It's my body, and I know it well. I don't need you to interfere." Izabella was irritable, like a bomb exploding at the slightest provocation.
Her emotions were already uncontrollable during her period, and Brett's buzzing was like a fly in her ear.
"You think I want to interfere with you?" Brett sneered.
Izabella couldn't help but sneer back, "Since you don't want to get involved, get out. I'm sick of you."
