Chapter 9
Izabella had seen Brett angry before, but he always seemed cold even when mad. She’d never imagined him being so pissed off like he was today.
Why was Brett so furious? Was it because of the divorce? Or did he think she had betrayed him?
Brett didn’t answer her. He leaned back on the sofa, glaring at Izabella who looked quite pathetic with her red, teary eyes
“Why suddenly bring up divorce?”
The way he camed himself and the tone of his voice suggested that she was the one at fault
Izabella struggled to suppress her laughter With considerable effort, she sat up and said, “Brett, haven’t you always desired a divorce so that you could be with Kaley without any obstacles? I am now granting you that wish, so why the reluctance on your face?”
“I asked you why you want a divorce” Brett reiterated, his voice laden with weight
“What else could it be? I’m tired of this mamage. I don’t like you anymore Are those reasons enough? Izabella’s eyes were frighteningly red, maybe from crying earlier
She stared at Brett fearlessly, as if trying to see through the skin to his heart What was it made of that she could never have it?
Izabella laughed mockingly. “If you think these reasons aren’t enough, then just assume it’s as you think”
What he thought, what could it be? Surely he suspected that Izabella was cheating since she suddenly didn’t love him anymore?
Brett didn’t care about her feelings, but he knew what she felt for him. Now that she said she no longer cared, he felt empty, as if something was missing.
Brett’s gaze turned dark, his anger reignited His eyes grew red as he spoke, “Izabella, it appears you’ve been quite busy during my absence. Divorce is merely a facade, while having an affair is the harsh truth. That lawyer you met today must be one of them, am I right?”
Brett looked down on her, his eyes filled with contempt.
Izabella felt sick to her stomach due to his oppressive aura. While gentle, she wouldn’t take everything lying down. Brett’s words made her chest churn with anger, that breath nearly crushing her ribcage
“You’re right! So, what?” Izabella clenched her teeth, scoffing sarcastically, “Oh, so only you can have an affair and I can’t?”
“Say that again, I dare you!”
Izabella closed her eyes, she didn’t want to waste any more of her remaining life on Brett.
“Brett, four years are long enough. I don’t have another four years to spend on you. I cant wait any longer”
Brett was taken aback by Izabella’s words, perceiving them as the desperate plea of a dying person. He couldn’t comprehend their meaning and responded with a sneer. “So now that I’ve discovered your little schemes, you want to be with your lovers? Izabella, you’re the one who coerced me into marrying you. There’s no way you’ll obtain a divorce so easily“”
Coerced? Wasn’t it Brett who had proposed to her in the first place?
Izabella found the situation rather amusing. “Don’t worry, I’ll provide you with a fair divorce settlement. I won’t let you suffer any losses.”
But did he even care about the settlement? The daily profits of the Windham Group far surpassed those of the Salotti Group. Even if Izabella handed over the entire Salotti family fortune, it would barely register for him. He had always taken what he desired by force, never relying on anyone to simply hand it to him
Brett laughed coldly, his anger once again directed at Izabella
“What are you doing?!” Izabella knew what would happen next with this movement
Brett bent down to kiss her neck, biting her Izabella gasped, tears streaming from the pain.
Brett chuckled, “You’re making such a fuss Isn’t this to keep me here with you?”
Izabella retorted, “I didn’t ask you to stay I just want a divorce.”
Brett didn’t like hearing the word “divorce He bent closer to silence her with a kiss.
Tears kept rolling down Izabella’s cheeks. She bit Brett in the mouth, tasting blood Brett slightly furrowed his brows but didn’t let go.
Feeling nauseated by the blood in her mouth, Izabella was afraid she might vomit.
