With that in mind and everyone cheering her on, Tracy took a seat next to Xavier.
Given how dark it was, she couldn’t get a good look at his expression. No longer feeling as shy and awkward as before, she moved to peel some fruits for him.
Xavier glanced at what she was doing. He didn’t hold back and asked, “Would you sit here even if I wasn’t paying you?”
Tracy was stunned but quickly came back to her senses. ‘Being able to sit next to you is my honor. I don’t need money,” she replied.
So, she claimed that she didn’t need money?
Upon hearing that, Xavier naturally began thinking of Yvette.
They had been married for so many years, but he had only found out after they had gotten. divorced that she had never used the Lanes‘ money.
“I see. In that case, from today onward, you won’t receive any pay for your work,” he stated calmly.
Even though he didn’t own Sternhow Club, all he had to do was say the word, and the owner would immediately take action.
Tracy looked utterly shocked. “Are you joking, Mr. Lane?”
She wouldn’t be working there if she didn’t need money.
With her academic credentials, she could easily find a job that paid 10 thousand dollars a month. However, that was nothing compared to earning 10 thousand dollars a day at the club.
On top of that, she was young and pretty. She could leech off a rich guy, too.
“Does it sound like I’m joking?” Xavier asked.
His friends were all taken aback. “What’s up with you, Xav?”
Xavier didn’t respond. He simply stared at Tracy. “Do you have a problem?”
He was so intimidating that Tracy didn’t dare to look him in the eye. She shook her head and replied, “No.”
She thought that he was just trying to test her, so she didn’t take it seriously.
However, Xavier’s friends knew that he would never say something if he wasn’t going to
follow through with it. Tracy’s work was going to be for nothing.
They knew what was going on, but they didn’t say anything.

Tracy had no idea that she was no longer going to be paid for her work at Sternhow Club and that no one would dare give her money anymore.
She started testing Xavier’s limits by bringing up Yvette. “Was your ex–wife a bad one, Mr. Lane?”
Everyone else immediately fell silent.
Xavier looked at her indifferently. “How did you know?”
“I can tell. It looks like you’re very unhappy.” There was amusement in Tracy’s gorgeous eyes.
Xavier leaned against the back of the chair and subtly raised his eyebrows. “You’re right. She was terrible.”
Yvette had just reached the door and happened to overhear their conversation. The door wasn’t closed. She stood where she was and just stared at him.
Xavier didn’t know that she was there.
Yvette lowered her gaze. In the past, she had always been a topic of gossip for Xavier and his friends, and it seemed to be the case in the present as well.
“You’re here, Yvette. Aren’t you going to go in?” She heard a magnetic voice from beside her.
She hadn’t noticed that Quentin had been standing next to her for some time. There was at glass of red wine in his slender hands, and his lips were stained an alluring red from the wine.
Once he spoke up, everyone turn
to look at them and suddenly went quiet.
Xavier’s dark gaze lit up slightly. He grabbed his glass, which was on the table, and he took a sip to hide the odd look in his eyes.
