Chapter 184
While Xavier and Yvette were on their way to Sangine County, it started to rain heavily.
As Yvette sat in the passenger seat, her eyes happened to land on Xavier’s gorgeous side profile, and her heart skipped a beat.
She quickly retracted her gaze and looked out the window. Before she had gotten him for herself, she used to think he was hard to approach. But now, she had touched every inch of his body.
No matter how aloof a man was, his relationship with someone else would change after having skin
contact.
Xavier had noticed that she had been looking at him. So, he held her hand when they were taking a break from driving. “I’m not used to you being so quiet.”
Yvette looked at him as he added, “You used to talk nonstop.”
When she heard that, she couldn’t help smiling bitterly. “In that case, you definitely don’t remember saying that you hated me talking too much.”
Xavier was stunned, and it suddenly felt tense in the car. Yvette thought she had said something she shouldn’t have and made him upset.
So, she deliberately changed the subject. “After we leave this resting zone, there should be a maple tree forest up ahead. The trees must look beautiful because they should have a lot of leaves on them right
now.”
It was the beginning of fall. The sky was turning dark quickly, and it was getting colder outside. It was especially cold when it rained.
When they drove past the maple tree forest, it was already dusk. Since it was raining, the sky was darker than usual. However, they were still able to see the maple leaves falling.
It was at that moment that Xavier saw the smile on Yvette’s face. He hadn’t seen her smile like that for a long time. 1
He felt like he had traveled to the past–to the time when they had first met. She had been an adorable and romantic young lady.
After they passed the forest, there wasn’t any scenery for them to look at anymore. Yvette took out her phone to entertain herself a little.
However, she realized that it had run out of battery. So, she had no choice but to charge it in the car.
Suddenly, Xavier passed her his phone. “Use mine. There’s no password on it.”
She hesitated for a while before accepting his phone.
The home screen looked neat; other than the apps Xavier used for work and some social media apps, there wasn’t anything else. He didn’t even have an app for listening to music. .
Yvette went through his phone and decided to launch the browser to read some recent news. When she opened the browser, she saw the sixth most trending news at first glance,
“Daphne Reyes Publicly Apologizes for Plagiarizing.”

Yvette was in disbelief. Two days ago, Xavier had still been trying to get Kiki to withdraw the lawsuit. Now, Daphne had actually apologized publicly. He would never let her feel aggrieved.
While Yvette was feeling puzzled, they arrived at Sangine County. Xavier had told one of his men to make a hotel reservation in advance.
“Let’s call it a day first,” he said as he got out of the car
As they entered the hotel together, Yvette couldn’t help saying, “I just saw the news. Daphne has apologized publicly.”
Not only that, but Daphne had also taken down the song and announced that she would offer compensation.
Xavier wasn’t curious about it at all. He was the one who had told Mark to get Daphne to do that. If she had been unwilling to do it, she wouldn’t have been able to stay in Carnival Central Media.
“You were right last time. She should pay the price for plagiarizing other people’s work,” he said. However, he didn’t expose her identity as Cameron.
