Chapter 222
Xavier decided to take Yvette out in the end. Perhaps he was worried that she might be disappointed.
That night, the rain finally stopped for a while. The moon was high up in the sky, shining everywhere. Xavier arrived at the pond after following Yvette’s directions. Well, it was now a park. The pond from back then had turned into a man–made lake.
Fortunately, everyone had gone home at that hour, and there wasn’t anyone else there. Yvette got out of the car, covered up in her coat. Although it wasn’t winter yet, she was wearing way more clothes than any other person would.
He walked next to her and asked, “Is this the place?”
“Yeah, A lot has changed,” she answered.
Xavier had no recollection of this place at all. He had been to Snyder Residence a lot when he had been younger as well. However, he had never been to the area behind it, let alone known about the pond there.
Yvette walked on a bridge and stood in the middle. As she looked at the moon in the sky, she felt like she had gone back in time. She had made a wish with Xavier back then. She had wished she would be able to marry him when she was older, and it felt like her wish had come true.
Xavier stood nearby and looked at the woman on the bridge. As the moonlight shone on her, it seemed like she had become one with the place to form a beautiful painting.
She turned around to look at him. “Xav, why are you standing there?”
He was in a daze as he looked at her. It took him a long time to return to his senses and walk toward her. When he stood in front of her, he grabbed her hand. It felt cold, and it was as if there was no warmth at all. “Why is your hand so cold?”
Yvette smiled. “That’s because my heart is warm.”
All this childish talk was something that Xavier had said to her before. However, the man in front of her was unfamiliar with what she was saying at that moment. He pulled her into his embrace and put her hands in his pocket.
“You have one more minute. We’ll be going back after that.”
“Is that all?” She looked at him, hoping that he would remember the past. Even if he only managed to remember a hint of it, it would be enough for her. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen.
It seemed as if he had completely forgotten his childhood, how he had made a wish here, and many more things.
After returning home, Yvette still couldn’t sleep. She shut her eyes tight and kept thinking about what Marlene had said to her earlier that day.
“There’s something I’ve been curious about. You said he was gentle back then, right?”
Even when the sun started to rise, Yvette didn’t manage to sleep at all. She had previously made up her mind to try and get Noah out that day. However, it seemed like it wouldn’t be possible at that moment.
She wanted to check if she truly had fallen in love with the wrong person. She also wanted to find out where Jeremiah was and why she had never heard about him before.

After they had breakfast, Xavier left the house to attend to something.
Yvette went to Marlene’s residence and looked for her.
Marlene was sitting in the garden, basking in the sunlight. She had known that Yvette would come looking for her. She took off her sunglasses and asked, “What’s up?”
