Even Viola was shocked when she saw Xavier’s noble–looking back. He was scrubbing the plates, which were covered in bubbles.
The only time she had spoken to him before was on a phone call five years ago. Back then, she had begged him to treat Yvette well. However, he had been extremely cold.
She could still remember what he had said to her back then. “Why should I care what her life is like? She deserves what’s happened to her!”
When Viola thought about what had happened in the past, she didn’t pity him at all. In his words, he deserved everything that had happened to him.
Viola’s health had been fluctuating a lot recently due to the pulmonary shadow. She didn’t even know how much time she had left. All she wanted to do with the time she had left was accompany Yvette.
She limped into the kitchen and sneered. “Mr. Lane, if you’re feeling aggrieved, feel free to go home. You’re not going to get used to living with a common household like ours.”
When Xavier heard an old voice, he knew it belonged to Viola. Yvette had brought her up to him before. She was basically his mother–in–law.
“If Yvvy can stay here, so can I.”
Viola was stunned. He wasn’t the same man she had known before.
She thought he was pretending to have changed because he was blind now. She figured he wouldn’t be able to keep up the act for long and decided to leave him alone.
Although Yvette had said that no one other than Xavier was allowed there, Mark still visited him in the early morning. He had been worried about Xavier.
When he stood at the window, he unexpectedly saw Xavier doing the dishes and cleaning up. It seemed like Yvette was ordering him around, much to Mark’s astonishment.
While Viola was resting and Yvette was composing music, Mark decided to trespass into the house.
“Mr. Lane, how could you do this?” He grabbed the dishes from Xavier and helped the latter clean them.
Xavier frowned. “Why are you here?”
“I was worried about you being alone.”
Mark had been Xavier’s personal secretary for at least nine years. Although he was Xavier’s subordinate, he could also be considered a friend.
Xavier had a bad temper and had never cared about showing mercy. However, he had never treated Mark badly. If it hadn’t been for Xavier, Mark might still have been lost in life and struggling to make ends meet.
“In that case, make sure you clean them well and put everything back in place. Don’t let Yvette find out,” Xavier said.
“Sure,” Mark answered.
As he secretly helped Xavier, he told the latter about the recent issues at the company. “There’ll be a shareholder meeting this afternoon. They’re going to suspend you from your duties.”

Xavier listened to him silently and said, “I understand. After you head back, convert all my work in recent years into audio files and send them to me.”
“Yes, sir.” Mark nodded.
Ever since Xavier had found out about Yvette’s pregnancy, he had decided to get back everything that belonged to him, even if he was blind. He was determined to protect Yvette and the baby.
When Yvette was finished with her work upstairs, she wanted to see how Xavier was doing. She had no expectations that he would do a good job.
However, when she came downstairs, she saw how clean the kitchen and living room were. Everything was neatly organized.
At one point, she wondered if his eyes were fine after all.
