Back at the restaurant’s entrance, Yvette hurriedly pulled her hand back from Claude’s face. “I was young back then and didn’t know what I was doing.” 

She had only been a few years old and hadn’t known about keeping her distance from other boys at all. Back then, Claude had been short and chubby. He hadn’t even been as tall as Yvette.
