Xavier stood at the doorway, listening to the conversation outside. Even though his expression remained unchanged, his ears were bright red.
"Go on; answer them," he said to the bodyguards.
Each bodyguard quickly shook their heads.
Soon, the older women started trying to introduce them to potential girlfriends.
Viola lived in the remote area of Sangine County. The locals had heard that Yvette was Viola's employer's daughter, but she had passed away due to some incident. Later, it had turned out to be a misunderstanding.
The reason they hadn't sought out Viola was because Xavier had come with many people and taken several neighbors away for questioning five years ago.
For a while, everyone thought Viola and her family had offended someone important. Because of that, they had been too afraid to contact Viola when the latter had come back.
Back then, they hadn't dared to lift their heads and look at Xavier when he had questioned them about Yvette's and Viola's whereabouts. That was the reason they weren't able to recognize him.
Today, seeing Viola and Xavier, they couldn't help but sneak glances.
They initially felt sorry for him. However, upon seeing him, they admired Yvette for finding such a handsome husband. They thought it wasn't necessarily a bad thing for him to be blind; he wouldn't be able to cheat that way.
After a brief commotion, Xavier and Viola returned to their rooms.
Xavier's ears were still red. He still remembered how Viola referred to him as her son-in-law earlier.
On the other hand, Viola couldn't believe a dignified CEO like Xavier had been taken advantage of by an old woman. What she didn't know was that if it hadn't been for her, Ellie would have had her life cut short.
"I've already sent someone to get a new caregiver," Xavier mentioned.
"Okay." Viola was still feeling weak from her outburst.
She endured the physical pain and told Xavier, "Don't think that I've forgiven you just because I helped you. You're still Yvvy's husband, after all. I just don't like seeing you taken advantage of by outsiders."
