Daphne’s sudden arrival had disrupted the intimate atmosphere earlier. Xavier approached Yvette again, causing her to take a step back. 

This action irked Xavier. In the past, Yvette had always been the one to approach him, but everything had changed. 

“Mr. Lane, what business do you want to discuss with me?” 

She knew that she could only take things slowly, especially given how unpredictable Xavier was and the failure she had suffered last time. 

Xavier stared at her. He suspected that she was hiding something from him. “Don’t you like to do charity? Come by tomorrow. I’ll take you somewhere. 

Yvette had no reason to refuse. She left after agreeing to it 

As she opened the door, she saw Daphne waiting outside. 

Daphne blocked her path immediately. Her eyes were filled with concern. “Yvvy, you’re really alive. That’s wonderful. Can we talk?” 

Yvette smiled faintly at her. “Excuse me, miss, but who are you?” 

Daphne was taken aback. “You don’t recognize me?” 

Yvette didn’t bother to explain. “Are we close? I don’t feel like talking to you.” 

With that, she entered the elevator, leaving Daphne alone with a complicated expression. Then, Daphne went to Xavier’s office. 

“What’s the matter?” Xavier asked when she entered. 

“I wanted to explain about the news today. I didn’t know I was being photographed, and the reporters posted it online…” 

Earlier that morning, Xavier’s secretary had informed him about the news circulating online, which suggested that he had taken Daphne home to meet his parents and that they were getting married. 

He hadn’t told the public relations department handle the news. It was because he had wanted to see how Yvette would react to it. 

But judging from her behavior just now, she didn’t seem to care at all. 

Thinking of this, he looked at Daphne. “I got it.” 

Daphne couldn’t help but ask, “Xav, didn’t Yvette die? How come she’s…” 

Hearing her mention Yvette, Xavier put down his work and looked at her. “Who told you she died?” 

Daphne was rendered speechless. 

Xavier continued coldly, “If there’s nothing else, get out.” 

Even after Daphine had left the office, she couldn’t comprehend what had happened. How could someone who was supposedly dead be alive? 

Fear creeped into her. She was worried that Yvette would destroy everything she had now. 

After Yvette left Xavier’s office, she was assigned to an office. She took a tour around. Just as she went downstairs, someone stopped her. 

20 minutes later, Daphne and Yvette sat across from each other in a private room. 

“I heard you lost your memory?” Daphne asked mockingly. “Did you forget your parents and family too? 

Yvette took a sip of coffee and looked at her. “What exactly do you want to say?” 

Daphne pursed her lips. Her gaze was intense. “Yvette, I know you’re jealous that I took Xav from you, but there’s no need to use such tricks to get close to him, is there? 

“Haven’t you seen the news? Xav and I are getting married. Were you brought up to steal someone’s man?” 

Yvette let out a laugh. It surprised Daphne. “What are you laughing at?” 

“I’m laughing at how well–mannered you are,” Yvette replied calmly.
