Chapter 63
Xavier didn’t accept it. “I’m busy,” he responded apathetically.
Daphne hadn’t expected him to turn her down so bluntly. As she thought about what had just happened between him and Yvette, her nails dug into her palm.
Suppressing her displeasure, she turned to Yvette and asked, “Then, would you be able to come, Yvvy? It just so happens that our college reunion is right after the press conference. Perhaps seeing your old classmates could help jog your memory.”
Xavier’s gaze landed on her as well. Yvette had just told him that she wanted to regain her memories, so she couldn’t turn Daphne down. “Sure.” She then accepted the invitation and left the office.
Seeing as Yvette was also going to the press conference, Xavier felt tempted. Daphne persisted, and he eventually agreed to go as well.
Daphne silently observed the shift in his attitude and felt her hatred for Yvette grow even stronger than before.
Meanwhile, Yvette couldn’t help but feel frustrated after leaving Xavier’s office. “I was so close,” she lamented.
That evening, Yvette had her driver take her to the opera house at the time specified in her invitation. As soon as she arrived, she noticed a large number of socialites and media representatives, as well as some old college classmates.
Daphne had rented out the opera house’s concert hall and exhibition hall. Only invited guests were allowed to enter. With her invitation in hand, Yvette walked in and was escorted to a seat with an
excellent view of the whole venue.
Initially, she didn’t understand what Daphne was up to until she spotted a familiar figure just before the performance began. Xavier had arrived and was seated in the prime spot.
“Didn’t he say he wasn’t coming?” She sneered inwardly. As expected, he could never truly refuse
Daphne.
Daphne was truly basking in the limelight. With Xavier present, the media flocked to cover her story. generating nothing but positive headlines.
Her former college classmates, who used to look down on her, were now fawning over her, eager to use the opportunity to get close to Xavier.
However, their attempts were futile, as Xavier was surrounded by his bodyguards, making it
impossible for anyone to approach him.
Yvette watched from afar, unable to make out what he was saying to his bodyguards.
Shortly after, one of the bodyguards walked up to Yvette and said respectfully, “Ms. Snyder, Mr. Lane
has asked you to go over.” Yvette had no reason to refuse and walked forward.

In an instant, all eyes were on her.
“Isn’t that Yvette Snyder?”
“I heard she passed away, though?”
“That’s right! That must be a zombie!”
Her former classmates whispered amongst themselves.
Yvette took a seat beside Xavier, enduring the curious glances from all around. “Why did you call me over, Mr. Lane?”
