Chapter 69
“I overheard my parents talking about it. They said Ms. Reyes is with Uncle Xav because she saved Grandma Shannon in the past,” he said softly.” also saw Uncle Xav push Ms. Reyes away before.”
Zachary had only intended to get information about the Lane family from Malcolm, but he stumbled upon a secret about his own deadbeat father instead. He needed to investigate further to determine whether it was true or not.
“That’s just your side of the story,” he said.
Even though Malcolm had no idea what that meant, he could tell Zachary didn’t believe him.
“This weekend is my great–grandfather’s birthday, and Ms. Reyes will be there. I’ll be attending with my parents. If you don’t believe me, come with us and see for yourself.”
“Well, that was easy,” Zachary mused.
“Alright then. If you’re right, I’ll believe you. But you have to promise me that I’ll get to eat all the delicious food.” Zachary agreed readily. After all, he wouldn’t lose either way.
He was going to use this opportunity to teach that witch, Daphne, a lesson. not only did she steal his father, but she also dared to steal his mother’s work! She was utterly despicable!
On the weekend, Yvette got into her car early in the morning and headed to Kiki’s house. On the way there, she looked out at the pouring rain, lost in thought.
The driver commented, “Ms. Snyder, Mr. Lander also likes to look out the window like you when he’s in the car. He often said that there was a little girl who liked to do this, saying that watching the rain outside would take away her worries. Looks like that little girl was you.”
Yvette couldn’t help but smile. “That must have been something I said when I was very young. I’ve forgotten about it.”
The driver added, “It was truly fate that Mr. Lander and you were able to meet again.”
Yvette also found the world to be full of surprises
Finally, she arrived at Kiki’s villa. Zachary had returned home early that day. He and Kiki welcomed her
“Yvvy, come in! Zac and I have been waiting for you to have breakfast. Kiki and Zachary both looked at her expectantly.
“Alright.” Yvette hadn’t seen her son in a few days. She couldn’t help but hug Zachary, smushing his cheeks. “How have you been doing at school lately?”
Zachary blushed slightly and responded, “I’ve been doing well.”
Kiki chimed in, “My nephew sald he’s very popular with the girls these days. He’s stealing all the other boys‘ thunder.”
Zachary had inherited Yvette and Xavier’s good genes, so he was exceptionally charming and

intelligent. Kiki couldn’t help but think that he would be a heartbreaker when he grew up.
“Mom, I’ve been on my best behavior,” Zachary continued.
Yvette couldn’t help but knead his cheeks and then plant a kiss on his forehead. “That’s good.”
His cheeks instantly turned as red as a tomato. It took him a while to remember what he was going to
say.
“By the way, Mom, I’m going to a friend’s house tomorrow.” Of course, he didn’t tell her that the “friend” was Malcolm.
