Mason drove Kara and James to the entrance of the Hemming's.
Kara got off and stared at the brightly-lit house, which made her feel gloomy instead. She was a little hesitant.
"What's wrong?" James touched her head and took her by the hand.
"James, why do I feel like the Hemming's is haunted?" Kara said in a small voice.
James's look instantly became sharp, but remembering that it had been nearly twenty years, he took a deep breath and repressed his emotion.
"Ghosts will eat me first. They don't like an ordinary person like you."
He took her hand and slowly walked into the house.
"..."
'When you lost your temper, you are even more terrifying than a ghost!' Kara thought indignant.
Although Kara pursed and complained in her heart, she clenched his hand nervously.
James felt her dependence and smiled secretly.
Madam Hemming invited them to have dinner. When James and Kara arrived, dinner was already set up.
The two entered the living room and saw Kathleen and Sophia sitting on the dining table. Kara sighed helplessly.
She knew that it would be no good for her to eat at the Hemming's.
James looked indifferent as he greeted Madam Hemming, and took Kara to sit at the back of the table.
James used to sit next to the old lady on the left, and the old lady arranged Kathleen to sit next to her today. it was obvious that she wanted Kathleen and James to sit together.
James was not stupid. He knew that the old lady was trying to fight back since she knew his plan in the engagement.
But he would never let Kara suffer any injustice no matter what happen!
"James, why sitting so far away? Come here and talk to me." The old lady smiled kindly.
When Kathleen saw James, she felt excited when she thought about of old lady's guarantee.
But when Kathleen saw their hands held together, her eyes were bloodshot as if they had been pricked by poison needles. She stared at Kara with resentment.
This shameless woman seduced her fiance, and dared to show off in front of her!
That bitch!
"Grandma, let's have dinner first." James replied calmly. The old lady had nothing to say in reply.
Kara just followed James, and felt that the best thing she could do is to speak and act cautiously.
When they were eating, Emily glanced at Kara and James, smiling playfully.
Everyone ate in silence. Kara found that she could reach only one of the dishes in front of her.
But there was a plate of meat dishes full of red chili peppers. She swallowed and was afraid to eat.
Kara rarely ate spicy food because of her poor health since childhood.
Besides, she had been eating Chinese medicine recently. Even if she wanted to eat food with strong taste, Libby and James would not allow her to eat considering her health.
Seeing the dish, the cold sweat ran from her forehead.
As Kara lowered her head to eat the rice, some vegetables appeared in the bowl. She turned her head in surprise.
She saw James calmly put food into her plate. He also asked her in a low voice to hint at him with eyes about what she wanted to eat.
"Just eat your dinner. What's the use of looking at me?"
Seeing his little girl blinking her eyes at him, James chuckled and gently tapped her forehead.
"There's a lot of use!"
Her appetite was better with his company.
Although they spoke softly, everyone sitting at the dining table could still hear them.
Kathleen stared at Kara, her face turned so ashen with outrage that she almost crushed the chopsticks in her hand.
