Coming out of Hemming's mansion, Kara was terrified.
She had lied that he had signed a marriage agreement with her. Would he be mad at that?
Probably yes. He had loved someone, so he wouldn't marry her.
She lowered her head and played with her fingers. Along the way, neither of them spoke.
Usually, Kara kept talking. But she was so quiet today. James turned to look at her. She lowered her little head as if she had done something wrong.
He reached out and rubbed her head, but was dodged by her.
James was surprised.
He narrowed his eyes and lifted her chin with his fingers.
"James, don't do this anymore. I may misunderstand." Kara pursed her lips and shook off his fingers.
"What will you misunderstand?" James stared at her, not knowing what she was thinking.
After coming out of the police station, she was in a bad mood. He had thought for a long time but could not figure it out.
"I'll misunderstand that you're a womanizer!"
James was lost for words.
It was such an accusation! James put on a wry face, not understanding her thoughts.
"Don't flirt with me if you love someone else. What I've said to Grandma just now was to stop her from finding you another fiancée whom you don't like," she explained patiently.
"Why can't I flirt with you?" James frowned as he stared at her with his brown eyes.
The person he loved was her!
Who else should he flirt with?
Kara widened her eyes in surprise and stared at him. "James, the engagement is temporary. When you find the opportunity, we'll cancel it. What if..."
"What?" James' face darkened as he clenched his fists and pressed his thin lips together.
"Nothing. Anyway, you should keep a distance from me in the future." Kara turned around angrily and lowered her head to play with her fingers.
James was lost for words again.
James licked his teeth. He wanted to teach her a lesson.
She was beautiful but silly. Everyone except her knew he loved her. And she wanted to cancel the engagement with him.
"Mason, turn around and go to the company!"
Mason didn't say anything.
Although Mason was curious, he did as James said.
"What are you doing?"
"The marriage contract is ready!"
Kara blinked in confusion and thought, 'He wouldn't marry that woman now, will he?'
She twisted her hands and her fingers were pinched, but she didn't notice it at all.
James frowned. He grabbed her hand and held it tightly in his palm.
"Don't hurt yourself."
The red fingerprints were very obvious against her white hand. She did not feel the pain, but he felt bad.
"Don't touch me." Kara's eyes were wet.
If he were to marry another woman, she would have to keep a distance from him. Her heart ached.
"Are you okay?"
James approached her. He lowered his head and rubbed his forehead against hers. He noticed that her eyes were red again, and her long eyelashes trembled with tears hanging on them.
"James, don't be so cruel to me."
The more Kara thought about it, the sadder she became. Tears rolled down her face and dropped on the back of James' hand.
He was still flirting with her when he decided to marry another woman. Was it because that in his heart, she was just an easy woman to whom he could do what he liked?
Cruel?
It was cruel for her to say these words to him!
James furrowed his brows and stared at her.
