Chapter 148 No Comparison No Despair
“Many have turned red here. Let’s pick them,” said Annalise as she pointed at the brilliant red strawberries. “Okay.” Julian smiled and squatted down to pick them. After picking a few, Annalise saw redder strawberries in other places. Her eyes lit up. “There are more over there.”
She straightened her back and looked around excitedly. “The strawberries in this farm grow really well.” She loved agriculture. when she saw fresh and fully-developed vegetables and fruits, she would radiate joy and enthusiasm.
She was like a marmot, picking a few strawberries and then excitedly darting to the front to pick a few more. Julian realized that he was not interested in the bright red strawberries that much. He preferred to watch Annalise picking them. When she devoted her mind to something, she looked particularly attractive. He just stared at her with his lips curled up. “Hey, you pick some too.” Annalise felt the burning gaze and looked up at the man with a smile.
“Okay.” Julian then squatted down. Seeing a deformed strawberry, he immediately plucked it and handed it to Annalise. “Look at this.” “Pfft, it’s so ugly.” Annalise burst out laughing when she saw the strawberry. The woman’s smile caused ripples of happiness to surge through Julian’s body. In order to make her happier, he found two more hideous strawberries.
One was white, probably because half of it leaned against the soil and wasn’t exposed to the sun. It was very big, looking like a small pufferfish blowing up angrily. And the other’s top bulged out like a horn. “Look at these two ” He showed Annalise the warped strawberries.
“Haha, how come you can always find such ugly strawberries?” Annalise laughed again when she saw it. She took them from Julian’s hand and said, “Don’t pick this kind of strawberry. We don’t want it. The boss will be unhappy.” Julian raised his eyebrows slightly and said, “It doesn’t matter. We’ll give the boss extra 10 bucks.”
“Haha, deformed strawberries never dreamed that they would be worth more than normal strawberries one day because of their unusual appearance.” Annalise chuckled. Perhaps it was because of their good looks, groups of people were drawn to the originally quiet place all of a sudden. The camera on the selfie stick was blocked by the crowd.
However, Annalise didn’t care as long as whatever she captured was real and natural. Alexander had been in contact with the spy watching Julian. When he learned that Julian had parked his car at the strawberry garden, he narrowed his eyes.
He thought if Julian and Annalise were really going to meet Joseph, it was very likely that they wanted to give Joseph some strawberries they personally picked. Strawberries were not expensive, but it was a token of appreciation. He instructed the people watching Julian to keep a close eye on him and not be discovered. Abigail knew that Annalise and Julian had gone to pick strawberries. So, she said, “Alexander, let’s find a place to eat.”
The man retorted unhappily, “We are in the middle of nowhere. Do you see any restaurants? How to find a place to eat? Or do you want me to beg the farmers for food?”
He could not afford to embarrass himself like that. Abigail said, “I think there’s a farmhouse at the strawberry garden, and the pork stew they served is very famous.”
Alexander looked at Abigail in disdain as if he was looking at a retard. “So? We should eat pork stew there and tell Julian we’re following him?” Abigail was speechless for a moment. Then, she suggested, “How about I order a few dishes and we’ll pick them up later?” “You are such a glutton. Will you die if you skip a meal?” rebuked Alexander. Abigail felt even more aggrieved.
