"Morning," Vincent greeted. The mist swirling around him gave him an almost unreal appearance.
Tiffany was caught off guard. "Mr. Lewis?"
With Vincent standing amidst the mist, he seemed like a mirage.
Rubbing her eyes in disbelief, Tiffany wondered if she was still half-asleep or dreaming. But there stood Vincent, undeniably real and alive before her.
"Mr. Lewis?" she called out again.
"It's me," Vincent replied softly, his voice barely audible over her racing heartbeat.
No one could understand why he rushed back, with no desire to delay. No one knew why the moment he landed, he drove straight to her dorm without a second thought.
No one could grasp the peace and joy he felt at the sight of her face. No one could comprehend his longing to hold her tight, restrained only by his willpower.
"Mr. Lewis, you're back?" Tiffany's soft voice found its way into his heart, melting his defenses.
"Yeah, just got back," Vincent replied.
His gaze was so intense that Tiffany felt a bit flustered.
Trying to break the tension, Vincent glanced at the thermos she was holding and asked, "On your way to breakfast?"
"Yeah," Tiffany replied softly.
"I rushed back and didn't even get to eat dinner last night," Vincent said, rubbing his stomach with a slightly pouty tone.
Tiffany hesitated for a moment, then offered, "If you don't mind, do you want to join me?"
She knew she should keep her distance. However, with him showing up like this and the way the conversation was going, she couldn't stay indifferent.
Vincent's expression softened. "Sure."
They walked to the cafeteria together. It was still early, so the place was quiet and nearly empty. Tiffany grabbed two trays and handed one to Vincent.
She walked ahead, with him following close behind.
