Logan carried both children in each arm and brought them to the table. 

Veronica took the initiative to move her seat and emptied out the seat next to Lorraine.

“Have you just gotten off work?” Lorraine asked as she got up and took Luna from him. Then, she placed Luna back in her seat. 

“Yes.” Logan placed Finnegan back in his seat and sat down beside Lorraine. He took off his hard hat and greeted Lorraine’s ex–boyfriend. “Mr. Linton, nice to meet you.” Luke’s happy mood immediately went down the drain after seeing Logan. But he couldn’t show his displeasure. He could only maintain his composure and returned Logan’s greeting. 

“Mr. Moore, did you just return from the construction site?” 

Luke had purposely mentioned Logan’s job to find a sense of superiority over him. 

In his opinion, it was also due to his hard work that he was able to leech off of his wife. 

At least in the eyes of outsiders, he was still considered a businessman. He was living in a luxurious house, while driving a luxury car. Not to mention, the cards in his wallet had a balance of at least ten thousand dollars. 

He was so much more superior than a man working in a construction site. Logan probably didn’t even own a car. 

Logan replied, “Yes. I’ve been busy with my job at the construction site lately, so I’ve been working overtime. I was a little late due to the traffic jam.” 

Luke smiled and said, “There are indeed a lot of cars on the road at night. There’s always a jam here and about. May I know what car do you drive, Mr. Moore?” 

He already knew the answer to his question. 

Logan answered, “I don’t have a car. I took the public transport to get here.” 

“Mr. Moore, I believe you have a fair amount of income. I think it’ll be much more convenient if you buy a car for your family since you already have children. “It’s not that expensive to buy a car now, all you need to do is prepare enough money for a down payment.” 

Logan smiled and said, “I need to provide for my wife and children, so I don’t have enough money to spare for a car. I might not be able to afford the down payment. 

“I think it’s better to focus on paying off our debts. Once our children grow up and start going to school, we’ll check back and see if we have enough money for a car. Luke knew that Lorraine was about a million dollars in debt. 

He began to think about how his life had turned out so much better than Lorraine’s after their breakup. 

Although she had maintained her beauty and youth well, what good could beauty do? She could only marry someone incapable like Logan. 

“That’s true. It is important to ensure survival before thinking of enjoying the things in life.” 

Luke took the initiative to pour Logan a glass of wine. 

Lorraine helped Logan with a bowl of stew and cut some pieces of steak for him. 

She said gently, “Darling, try some stew and meat first. You should always fill your stomach before drinking as it’s easier to get drunk on an empty stomach.” Logan put down the wine glass and looked at Lorraine. “I’ll listen to you, babe.” 

Logan’s cousins turned to him and looked at him as if he was some type of monster, even Jenny was stunned. 

It was their first time seeing Logan’s soft and gentle side.
