Chapter 62
Hestia and Joslin had just enjoyed a delightful meal at their in–loss house. As they were getting ready to leave, Irene and Charles handed them a big bag of chocolate Easter eggs. Irene also the Moores two roasted chickens and honey–baked ham to take home on top of that, the Sommers gave them a generous supply of local produce.
Feeling grateful for their in–laws warm hospitality, Hestia and Joslin packed their car full before saying a cheerful goodbye
On their way home, Hestia commented, “We came empty–handed, yet they showered us with gifts. We certainly overlooked our etiquette today.” Her eagerness to see Lorraine had overshadowed the usual formalities.
Joslin acknowledged the oversight and said, “I’ll make sure to put together some proper gins when we go back. We should plan another visit around Easter to make up for this one.
Hestia nodded. “Let’s not go overboard with the gifts. We’re just playing along with Logan’s act, so we should stick to the usual family standards.” She knew that going too extravagant might not sit well with their in love
Joslin replied, “Got it, Mom. But I can’t help wondering what he’s thinking. Even if Lorraine mistook him for her blind date, they’re already married. There’s no turning back for ber. Why is he still pretending to be poor and saying he works at the construction site?
“It’s really unfair to Lorraine. After finally getting a daughter–in–law, Tcan’t even spoil ber. It’s all that brat’s fault.”
As Joslin thought about how she couldn’t part with any of her treasured jewelry, she felt an urge to reprimand Logan. She had been diligently collecting jewelry, intending to pass them down to her future daughters–in–law
Since Logan was her eldest son, Loutine would be the eldest daughter–in–law, and naturally, she would inherit the most valuable pieces.
Joslin had decided to split her collection into three parts–one for herself, a significant share for Larrame, and the rest for her second daughter–in–law, who, at this point, had yet to come into the picture.
The sons and grandsons of the Moore family were all talented. Even without an inheritance, they knew how to build their own fortunes. The only concern for the elders was their
Hestia had over a dozen grandchildren, and none of them had manied, Despite being remarkable individuals with many admirers, it felt like they were avoiding marriage as if it were a trip to Bell
“This is the path Logan chose, and he’ll have to face the consequences eventually. Let’s just watch from the sidelines. That brat will end up crying one day.” Hestia eagerly anticipated her grandson’s comeuppance
She continued, “So, what do you think of Lorraine?”
Joslin replied, “She’s lovely. We get along really well. Sure, her background might not be the same as ours, but how many people in Glendale have a background as distinguished as ours? Besides, her family isn’t struggling and treats their children well Their family values are admirable,
“Also, our family is already at the top. So, our children don’t need to use manage to boost our status. What really matters is their happiness.”
Hestia nodded. “You’re her mother–in–law. Lorraine will fit into our family as long as you approve of her. After all, she’s your daughter–in–law, so you need to stand up for her. No one in our family should look down on anyone, but that kind of attitude is all too common in our social circle.
Eventually, Lorraine would enter high society. At that point, she would need to mingle with the daughters of prominent families and socialites. Hestia was concerned that Lorraine’s background might be a challenge.
