Hearing Chris saying this, Sonia was touched, but she still smiled at her friend, "It doesn't matter, they had been over."
She had gone through so much, but chose to leave it all in the past. After chatting with Chris for a long time, Sonia felt that she couldn't bear to take keep her inner feelings that she had been suppressed without telling others in regular time.
"Have I been making trouble out of nothing?" There seem to be tears in Sonia's eyes. "Have I been too troublesome in front of Dixon? I just want to know, have I done something wrong that could make others feel I am making trouble out of nothing?"
Pregnant, convicted to crimes and put into jail, lost a piece of finger and had several scratches on the back, wronged and humiliated for so many times and suffered countless slaps-- she walked down the road without shouting injustice, gritted her teeth and carried everything. In the end, the little nurses in the hospital saw that she refused to accept Dixon's kindness and secretly said that she was making trouble for no reason?
Is that true? Sonia smiled, "How can people's hearts be so sinister? If the needle doesn't stick to them, they won't feel hurt. They just so indifferently scolded me as fake. They won't be so tolerant as I do if they have ever been through such things!"
"I know." Chris patted her on the shoulder to soothe her. "Human beings can never empathize with each other. They may claim to be distressing you, but in fact it's just their random talk. Being your best friend, I can't understand you completely. Besides, they don't know anything, and just charge you with their mouths. Sonia, you are not fake, you are the strongest and bravest woman I have ever seen."
Having given out enough emotions, Sonia shrunk in Chris's arms and closed her eyes to soothe her emotion. The man patted her back gently. He could only accompany her, but he couldn't cure her.
In this world, there were so many gods and Buddhas of faith, but there was never a statue that could bless, shelter and take people through the sinister people's hearts. You could overcome your troubles by yourself.
Just then Victor came down from upstairs and said to Chris, "Is my mommy drunk?"
The man on the sofa looked back at him, and rubbed his eyebrows helplessly. "Maybe a little."
"Let her go to bed as soon as possible." Victor sighed, approached them and held out his hand to Sonia. "Mommy, we should go upstairs."
But Sonia had drank wine, gotten tired, leaned gently in Chris's arms and fell asleep.
Chris put his hand to his lips. "Shh, I'll take your mother upstairs."
The chest of Sonia rose and fell slowly. She closed her eyes and removed her cold appearance during the day. She was just an ordinary woman who wanted to be protected and relied on while sleeping.
"Easy..."
Victor carefully watched Chris pick up Sonia from her waist. The thin woman leaned against him like a doll. After Chris held Sonia in his arms, he whispered to Victor, "Go, your guest room is upstairs."
Victor watched Chris bring Sonia up, and suddenly thought that if Uncle Chris was really good to Sonia, maybe they could respect each other as guests in the future, even if there was no love, their shared something very similar to a family tie.
Sonia slept until dawn, when she woke up, Victor was lying in his arms. Someone knocked at the door. Sonia smiled, "Please come in."
Chris stood outside in a home suit, smiling wildly. "Are you awake? Let me take you to a delicious breakfast restaurant."
Sonia woke up Victor in his arms and then asked the man standing outside the door, "Did you bring me up yesterday?"
Chris raised his eyebrows. "Or, with your son's small size?"
Sonia smoothed her hair. "Thanks for the favor."
