Venerable Demon King & The Doting Immortal (QT) novel Chapter 511

Chapter 511: "What do you want?"

Su Jing paced the dimly lit room, frustration coursing through her. She was determined to find someone to teach Xiang Yu a lesson, but the perfect candidate wasn’t back in the city yet. She sighed, realizing she could only wait until tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in the quiet of their home, Xiang Yu sat comfortably in a lounge chair, flanked by Lian and Mei. The gentle breeze rustled the leaves overhead, providing a rare moment of respite from the heat. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

"Master, do you think Lord Han will find the water source?" Lian asked, his curiosity clear.

Xiang Yu chuckled, a lighthearted grin spreading across his face. "He won’t. I am sure of it."

Mei chimed in, her eyes shining with longing. "Master, is there a lot of water? I would love to have a long bath."

"It’s a lot of water," Xiang Yu replied, taking a moment to enjoy the dreamlike quality of the afternoon. "You won’t know what to do with it."

They all sighed contentedly, basking in the relaxation of the moment until a formidable presence loomed over them. Su Jing towered above, dark eyes fixed on Xiang Yu with unmistakable intensity.

Xiang Yu opened his eyes and tilted his head. "What do you want?"

"You have to get to work. That manure won’t move itself," Su Jing replied sharply, giving no ground for refusal.

Xiang Yu shrugged casually. "No, unless Xin-ge comes here himself and tells me to do it."

Su Jing’s teeth grit at his informal address. "Who are you to call him that? You can only call him Lord Han!"

Xiang Yu smirked, unfazed by her glare. "It’s either I call him Xin-ge or husband... which one would you prefer?"

Fury surged within Su Jing, her face flushing a deep red. In a swift movement, she drew her gun, pointing it directly at him, rage simmering just beneath the surface. Lian and Mei instinctively stepped forward, trying to intervene, but Xiang Yu held up a hand, stopping them.

"You and your men killed my people," Su Jing spat, her voice quaking with anger. "The fact that you are even alive is beyond me. You should be beheaded, your head spiked out of the city to send a message."

Xiang Yu rose from the lounge chair, his demeanour calm and cool. It was as if her words hadn’t affected him in the least. He regarded her with an amused expression, unafraid.

He stood in front of Su Jing, the cold metal of the gun pressing against his chest. He didn’t look intimidating, yet something in his calm presence unsettled her. It felt as though the ground beneath her feet was shaking, every heartbeat echoing in her ears.

Su Jing’s finger edged closer to the trigger, a tempest of temptation swirling within her. Could she really do it? Wouldn’t she become a hero for taking care of this burden named Xiang Yu? Praise would rain down for her and her people would see her as a protector rather than a mere victim.

"I understand that you are angry about the people you lost," Xiang Yu said, his voice steady, breaking through her turmoil. "But it’s not your place to punish me. It’s Lord Han’s place to decide what to do with me. The only reason I am putting up with you is that I understand what you are going through."

Su Jing felt her throat tighten, the sincerity in his words striking a chord deep within her. Her resolve wavered, the weight of her emotions almost overwhelming. As much as she wanted to end him in that moment, she found herself restraining the impulse. Slowly, she took back the weapon.
